  • Terrific vacation home

"This vacation home, close to the ocean, bay, ponds and town, has everything one could ask for: beautful and comfortable sun room , great kitchen, well stocked with every conceivable utensil, excellent deck, plenty of room and a master bathroom (many places have bedrooms smaller than the extraordinary slate shower) second to none. Wonderfully enjoyable."

  • Classy and cute, right on the water

"We had a magnificent three nights in this creekside garret. The thoughtfully chosen antique chairs and fainting couch were a great change from the usual mass-produced vacation chic that most rentals by the beach are awash in. The location is unbeatable: Everything in Wellfleet was in walking distance, and it was so relaxing to be able to go dinner or coffee or hop up to the library without getting in the car. And in the evenings, we could walk right across the wooden footbridge to take in the sunset, watch the tide roll in, or gawk at thousands of stars. The ocean with its majestic dunes and watchful seals was a quick car ride away, as were the wild walking trails of Great Island. The garret's kitchen was entirely adequate, and my partner, who is 6'0", was fine with the sloping ceilings. We had many splendid meals on the trip, including enormous breakfast burritos at Box Lunch and a fine salmon at the Wicked Oyster, but the best meal was easily Blackfish in Truro--which, if memory serves, was Brenda's excellent recommendation. Speaking of which, Brenda was an excellent host--helpful at the outset and then left us to our own devices. A memorable and rejuvenating getaway!"

  • Why we keep coming back

"Of all the places on the Cape, Wellfleet is the most special. And of all the special places in Wellfleet, this house on Great Pond has become our most treasured. While the house itself is a striking bit of architecture with all the amenities you need, it is also in keeping with its rustic setting. The experience is all about nature and being on the pond. Where else can you step off your deck and take a midnight paddle under a full moon? If you have kids, you can watch them swim out to the dock while preparing dinner in the kitchen. If it's the beach you're after, it's just a mile away. If you want to head to town, you can get there in minutes without having to negotiate Rte. 6. This is the perfect house with responsive, attentive hosts."

  • Perfect Outer Cape Rental

"My wife and I have taken our 7 year old daughter to Wellfleet every year for the last 6 years. We have always stayed at this house and for good reason! It's incredibly roomy. The kitchen is big enough for everyone to enjoy cooking and having a few drinks. There is a formal but comfy living room and a more den-like living room that's great for game playing, tv, etc... if you have kids. Plenty of bedrooms with 3 queen beds, lots of smaller beds if kids want to sleep in the same room together. Really family friendly! The kitchen has pretty much all the tools for home cooking, although we enjoy eating out in Wellfleet and Provincetown just as much. Wellfleet has everything you could want for a quaint Cape Cod experience. There are several good restaurants for lunch and dinner, including a very good breakfast place. The Wellfleet market has everything and there is an ice cream shop with outdoor picnic tables to enjoy. We love the fish market and there's even an excellent toy store with gifts, souvenirs, and beach stuff! If you want more people, excitement, shopping, food choices, then Provincetown is just a short drive away. The whale watches are really exciting! There are more beaches from Wellfleet to Provincetown than you could possibly lay on in one vacation! From harbor beaches, to oceanside beaches with amazing dunes, to Great Pond beaches, the Outer Cape has it all. This house happens to be in the perfect location to enjoy it all, while being very peaceful."
