19th Century charm with 21st Century conveniences
"Five stars for three categories.
SITE. Tne VRNO photo doesn't do justice to this house and setting. It's what was called a Greek Revival when it was built, probably about 1830, the last house on Old Pier Road. That means it is quiet, a two-minute walk to the cove beach, which feels like a private beach and yet is onlhy a couple of miles from Wellfleet Center. Our dog loved wandering through the tall stands of beach grass along the tidal flats.
HOUSE. The house is remarkably equipped. Paper punch? Check. Scrabble? Check. First
Aid kit? Check. LED bulbs? Check. We couldn't think of a thing that isn't supplied. That's also true for virtual things: wifi worked perfectly (except during a brief, dramatic storm) and so did premium cable on big screen TV in the LR. And Nick Nicholson, the landlord, went out of his way to reassure us about the storm -- and about any other questions.
LOCATION. Wellfleet is large enough to include almost any necessary facility, including a pharmacy and a vet. We liked playing tourist on the shopping streets there -- and were pleased to do more of that on the short, beautiful drive to Provincetown.
There were two of us for most of the week but two children and their two boys came for a couple of nights, comfortable in two addtional bedrooms. They want to come back. So do we.

"I grew up vacationing at my grandparents house in Wellfleet, and spent many adult years renting on CC as well as staying at my parent's vacation home in Brewster. This property does not disappoint! It's well appointed, spacious, private, and simply beautiful. My family of four joined my sister and a friend. Plenty of space for everyone to relax. My 12 and 14 year old children loved the property and seeing wild turkeys on the patio! Great proximity to town, restaurants, beaches, and ponds. An excellent and relaxing vacation with all the comforts of home. Perfect spot!"

"This house is really great. Fully equipped kitchen with everything that a hobby chef needs. The rooms are big, nicely furnitured and a spacious living and dining room. Great deck with grill. Close too the beach and really quite. Beach chairs and body boards are provided. Owner is very responsive and information provided was really helpful. A great place to stay,"

"Peaceful, quiet, well maintained home with a HUGE kitchen / dining room. If you like to visit the cape with a large family (or simply like a lot of room to wiggle), look no further. This abode offers a comfy ‘lived in’ feel you never get from renting little cottages or motel rooms. With all the hustle and bustle of cape festivities, it’s nice to end the evening cooking on the grill in the spacious back deck with only birds and the breeze as background noise.
As far as the owners of the abode: Friendly, quick to respond, detailed (aesthetically and functionally) and don’t cut corners.
In short, the place offers balance.
Balance, in that you can rest peacefully and feel safe in a quant setting while sipping coffee as you read a book, make yourself a healthy snack, or get to bed early for the next days adventures.
Balance, in that a short distance away you can be biking in the hills of the dunes, singing off key to kereoke, or simply taking a romantic walk on one of several beaches watching the sun set across the ocean horizon.
I have always thought a great vacation meant the proximity of fun activities. That where you stayed mattered little since all you do is sleep there. Now that I discovered this vacation home, I realized I was missing half of what made a vacation extraordinay…
It’s about looking forward to going ‘home’, knowing the extra rest you get there makes your experiences for the next vacation day even better."
