  • Monomoscoy Island retreat, Mashpee, Massachusetts

"Heavenly if you like birds, fresh air, nature, trees and woods. The sun rises above the river over this peaceful property. The quietness and solitude are palpable and restful. Set back from the riverfront is a large beautiful yard, many tall pine trees and a big well crafted wooden house. In wintertime, it was an oasis of tranquility. The house is so inviting and has everything you could need for weeks or months at a time. The library shelves are full of fascinating books on all kinds of subjects: art, biographies, business, cape cod, children's books, foreign languages, history, nature, philosophy, reference books, sciences. There is a closet full of family games and puzzles. We watched and listened to a never ending parade of winter land and sea birds flying or floating by: bluejays, cardinals, chickadees, crows, finches, hawks, osprey, sparrows, woodpeckers, and bufflehead ducks, Canadian geese, cormorants, mallard ducks, seagulls and swans. Monomoscoy Island is a protected wildlife preserve, and well off the beaten tourists pathways. The house was clean, dry, nondrafty, beautifully furnished, so comfortable and well kept throughout. The big kitchen is full of dishes, glasses, mugs, pans, pots and utensils. The beds were super comforting and always a good nights sleep. There is an abundance of fresh linens. Large homes are nearby, but the yard and surrounding area is private, tree-filled and woodsy. In winter it gets dark early (you can really see the constellations!) but there is good lighting inside and outside where needed. Pathways to the house are clearly marked and lighted. Well maintained wood chip strewn driveway, with plenty of parking off the short side road. Mashpee is a lovely town of Wampanoag Indian origins. Many native descendants still live in the older parts of town, and sponsor a huge powwow of costumed dancing, drumming, and a musical celebration of their Indian culture during the summertime. We loved being here in the winter, with the cold outside it never felt anything but cozy, protected and warm inside the house. The resident hosts, who live on one side of this spacious two-story duplex, were so kind, helpful, thoughtful and never endingly patient, and made sure if there were anything we needed that they were only a phone call or text away, or a knock on their door (entrance way and foyer is shared). They will probably offer you some home cooking, and it was great! Truly a serene, special, spiritual place. And it snowed too!"

  • Bueatiful Home

"Beautiful home. The pictures don't do it justice. My family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The fact that the beach is just down the street was a life saver as our childfren were able to come and go as they pleased. The beach was beautiful and the fact that I didn't have to pay for parking was an additional plus. The house itself is as stated - an open floor plan with lots and lots of patios and decks, 2 family rooms, and a screened in porch; all of which we took advantage of. It is the cleanest house we have ever rented. It was a pleasure to grill our dinner on the outdoor grill and eat in the screened in porch or on the back patio. The kitchen had everything you needed to put a meal on the table, including a food processor, blender and hand mixer. I was also thrilled at having salt, pepper, sugar, other spices and oils, and basic condiments for our use. Same with the linens. What a relief not to have to drag sets of sheets with us. I especially enjoyed the soaking tub in the master bath and watching the sunset from the observation deck, cocktail in hand to watch the sunset. Our children took advantage of being able to rent bikes and ride them on the bike trail which is only a few minute away. The house is perfectly situated and none of the drives to town took more than 30 minutes. Orleans is also very close, as is Wellfleet. The next time we vacation on the Cape we will be staying at this house as it has everything, is incredibly clean and is very close to the beach."

  • In love with Chatham

"I just wanted to drop you a quick note and tell you thank you for letting Bill and me use your beautiful home. We had such a fantastic time in Chatham and are looking forward to going back. There may be a sudden influx of Wisconsinites in the Cape Cod area, after we have told everyone that will listen how much we loved it. Again, Thank you. Mary Zimmermann"

  • Wedding weekend

"This house was perfect for our family to gather for a wedding last weekend. The house was clean, well equipped and convenient. Only bad was the coffee maker broke but the neighbor was kind enough to have a coffee maker for sale at his yard sale so for $5 we were ready for our dunkinn coffee. Someone else was selling tomatoes ans thai basil....yum. We were so busy with family activity we did not see much of the natural beauty of cape cod up close and personal but we would come back here...definitely. Only negative was the yard was overgrown so grandchildren could not play there. We were so busy otherwise not a real problem on this trip."
