  • Perfect vacation

"We had a wonderful time at the house. Location is great - 0.8 miles from the beach so driving is easier - and the house is perfect. The downstairs has a very large and open living/dining area with kitchen, along with one bedroom with two twin beds, a bathroom and a mudroom. The upstairs has the master bed that shares a bathroom with the other bedroom with two bunk beds. The house was perfect for our family of four (including an infant who wakes up frequently at night) but can easily accommodate many more (better behaved :) visitors). Andrea was incredibly responsive and helpful with every question. She even provided us with a toddler bed and a pack and play, which helped tremendously with our young kids. All in all, a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this house for everyone, but especially with young children since it is so well equipped (stepping stool, toddler bed, etc.). Many thanks Andrea. We had a great time. Oh, and like other reviewers, I agree that the pictures don't do the house justice. It looks better than in the pictures."

  • Amazing Cape Cod House

"We stayed here as two families with a 2 y/o, 6 month old, and twin 9 month old children. House was the perfect size. The house is very nice, spacious and clean. The backyard complete with pool was fantastic. I have never been to the Cape before and was blown away by how great it is for kids, particularly the bay side beach in Orleans. I wish it was a little closer to NYC and we'd be there a few times a summer. Orleans is also perfect location for day trips to Province Town, Hyanis and Chatam. There is a good playground close by at the middle school in downtown Orleans."

  • LOCATION , LOCATION,LOCATION

"LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. This vacation getaway is situated on a very quiet two- home drive way, abutting a nature reserve, and is within a 5-10 min walk of one of the most secluded and beautiful beach spots in Provincetown. Surrounding this wonderfully designed and decorated home away from home are three distinctively unique garden setting designed for year round visual and physical enjoyment. The "South-East Garden” which faces the rising sun, has two comfortable chairs and a small- raw stone table for your early morning coffee drinking comfort. Surrounded by a number of "specimen type evergreens" , African stone and iron sculptures, and pottery and a wonderful view of the nature reserve, this lovely setting is a a pleasant place to start your day. As you enter or exit your vacation home you find yourself midst a botanical potpourri . Japanese Maples, ornamental grasses, clump bamboo, and more specimen evergreen trees and bushes. Many varieties of flowers help to make this setting a color delight. For your added pleasure there is a raw-stone bench to sit and enjoy the scenery and more African art and rare specimens of rocks and minerals. To complete this wonderful envelope of varied plantings and art is the "Shade Garden". View-able as one enters and exits the property and from the elevated deck. this Spring thru Fall delight features a large variety of premium hostas, ferns and shade friendly shrubs. The colors, textures, and shapes stimulate the senses and make for a cool mid-day place to stroll and smile. Oh yes, there is also the renowned town of Provincetown and the surrounding beaches and dunes. Wake up to visual and sensual pleasures explore your surroundings through out the day and return to your botanical haven as you please. YOU CERTAINLY PICKED THE RIGHT SPOT TO TREAT YOURSELF NICELY!!!"

"I wanted to let you know how much my family and I enjoyed our stay at the Sea Glass Cottage. It was so comfortable and well-kept that we all felt right at home. It made for an extremely relaxing weekend where many memories were made. I would certainly recommend your home to others as well as our family has already spoken about doing this again."

Cape Cod Travel Tips

When locals talk about Cape Cod, it often sounds like a Dr. Seuss book: Lower cape, upper cape, outer cape, inner cape. While it’s true that each part of the cape has its own unique characteristics, the most important thing to know as a visitor is that Cape Cod offers the freshest seafood and the most perfect, natural escape from the hustle and bustle.

Top Attractions

The biggest draw in Cape Cod is the relaxed lifestyle buttressed by a deep connection with nature.

The Cape Cod National Seashore makes up about 40 miles of seashore on the outer cape - all the way from Provincetown on the upper cape to Chatham on the lower. It includes 68 square miles of woods, lakes, ponds and beaches. Cahoon Hollow Beach in Wellfleet on the Atlantic side is simply beautiful. Come here to relax and grab a drink and some fresh clams at the Beachcomber bar. Marconi Beach, also in Wellfleet, features more crowds but stunning sunsets. Head to the beach at Chatham on the lower cape to tour the quaint Chatham Lighthouse. There are also plenty of bayside beaches in Truro and Provincetown.

As it is situated in a unique coastal and bay ecosystem, Cape Cod has several important wildlife sanctuaries that are great for an educational visit. Schedule in a visit to Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, the Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary or Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in Chatham to learn about the local ecosystem and protection efforts.

What To Do

If you’re on the upper cape, check out the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum for a dose of interesting history. On the inner cape catch a film at the old-timey Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre and grab some ice cream to go with at the nearby Wellfleet Dairy Bar and Grill. Wine-lovers won’t want to miss a visit to the fabulous 5-acre Truro Vineyards where you can sample Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to go where presidents in the past have been, pay a visit to the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Hyannis and then head to Falmouth to take a ride on The Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard - a favorite island of presidents through the ages.

Dining and Shopping

It goes without saying that they know how to do seafood right on the cape. If you’re on the upper cape, eat at the The Lobster Pot, a landmark seafood shack in Provincetown, which serves up no-nonsense deliciousness. You’ll have great views of MacMillan Wharf and can delight in the classics like steamed littlenecks, lobster rolls and clam chowder. A more upscale P-town eatery with a stunning view is Fanizzi’s By the Sea, which serves up classics with an Italian twist.

If you’re on the lower or mid cape, delicious meals can be had at Blackfish in Truro, the Chatham Pier Fish Market (where you can also do some seal watching), Arnold’s Lobster and Clam Bar in Eastham and the delightfully named The Wicked Oyster in Wellfleet.

The hands-down best place for shopping on the Cape is Commercial Street in Provincetown. You can find everything here from upscale boutiques, shops selling artisanal crafts and more funky options like Marine Specialties, Inc. a kooky surplus store, or The Shell Shop, which sells tens of thousands of unique shells.

Bring your swimsuit, sunscreen and appetite in preparation for the perfect Cape Cod vacation.
