"This house is among the most tranquil and serene places we have ever been. It sits on a knoll commanding sweeping views of the ocean on one side and a pleasant pond on the other. It is completely private yet only minutes away by car from amenities at the cliffs and only a ten minute walk to Philbin Beach. There is a sunny deck equipped with comfortable lounge furniture, a small balcony upstairs similarly furnished, a well equipped kitchen and a large flat screen TV/media center. Every room has an abundance of windows with exceptional views. Kathleen is a most attentive owner who answered any questions promptly. Highly recommended."Guest: Pamela Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 28, 2014View listing
"A vacation on the vineyard is great anytime of year but it is even more beautiful in the fall! The hillside cottage was the perfect place to stay! It's obvious that the owners love their home and it is beautifully maintained! The cottage provides everything you would need for a wonderful stay but also has a great homey feel! The pond and beach access was a plus! We took several of the owners recommendations for great hiking trails, dinner and shopping! It was truly difficult to leave and we can't wait to stay there again! The Hillside cottage would be a great place to stay any time of the year!!!"Guest: Kim Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 19, 2014View listing
"This house was amazing. It suited our needs perfectly. I wanted an up island rental with views of the ocean that could provide lots of living space and outdoor space for my family. The great room was very open and bright with stunning water views and nice breezes. The updated kitchen had everything you needed to cook with and to entertain with - just fabulous. The screened in porch was great for dining outside but not dealing with bugs. The Master bedroom was bright and cheery with a very nice bed. Actually, all the beds were terrific. 3 of the 4 bedrooms on bottom floor were cozy but very charming and were perfect for sleeping/hanging out. The queen bed room on bottom floor was a very nice size and had a great bed as well. Laundry room was super handy and the home supplied plenty of linens, towels and extra blankets. The den on bottom floor was a great hang out spot for my kids and visiting family who came to hang on some nights. Really, there was space for everyone. I must not forget the awesome outside shower - so perfect after a day at the beach and the water pressure was great. The home is off a long dirt road but we were still able to ride our bikes from the house to the main roads. The access to Lobsterville Beach and Mememsha was terrific and of course Philbin Beach and the lighthouse and cliffs. We had family in Chilmark and so this house was a perfect location. The owner, Barbara and her caretaker for her home were a delight to work with. What a wonderful week we had in this very special home."Guest: Lydia Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 28, 2014View listing
"Perfect for someone who appreciates Vineyard living without the crowds in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. The pictures don't do the views justice as the wraparound porch gives you a near 360 degree view of your surroundings. The house is stacked with amenities to make it feel like home. We didn't get a chance to use the grill on the deck but it is the perfect spot for a mid-afternoon cookout. The property was clean and very well-maintained. Deb (the owner) was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I would (and have) recommended this property to my relatives. Possibly most enjoyable was the private beach a few hundred feet in front of the property, but watching the sun set in Meneshma with Lobster's from Larsen's gives it a run for its money."Guest: Topher D. Aquinnah Travel Tips
Let Aquinnah Rentals Awe You This Summer
For years, Martha’s Vineyard has been a popular tourist destination during the summer months. Aquinnah, which was once known as Gay Head, is located on the west side of the island and boasts bright, colorful cliffs. Years ago, the Wampanoag Tribe made its home in Aquinnah, which gives the area plenty of history. Because it is such a beautiful and picturesque part of Martha’s Vineyard, Aquinnah rentals are always in high demand.
Aquinnah Rentals Lead to the Cliffs
If there is anything to do or see when staying in Martha’s Vineyard rentals, it is definitely the Gay Head Cliffs. The amazing cliffs of clay offer an amazing view. If you are lucky enough to book Aquinnah accommodations nearby, be sure to take a bicycle or walk out to take in the view. Just be sure to stay out of the clay and off the cliffs, as it is illegal to stand there. You want to spend the night in your Aquinnah rentals, not the local jail! A great spot to see the cliffs is Aquinnah Beach, also known as Moshup Beach; just be aware that it is a nude beach.
Aquinnah Accommodations Are Influenced by Native Americans
Because the Wampanoag Tribe made its home in the area for thousands of years previously, there is a strong Wampanoag cultural influence in Aquinnah. This is evident in many Aquinnah accommodations and their décor and design. In fact, the town has become the center of Wampanoag culture. Many Martha’s Vineyard rentals are situated near museums featuring Wampanoag exhibits and historical information.
More to Do at Martha’s Vineyard Rentals
Staying the summer in Aquinnah rentals allows you to truly experience the area. Aquinnah accommodations may range from small fishing cottages to sprawling, spacious mansions. However, regardless of which Martha’s Vineyard rentals you end up booking, there is fun to be had by the whole family. Check out the historical Gay Head Lighthouse for an evening tour after spending a day at the beach with the kids. Aquinnah is perfect for family picnics, bicycling, and good old-fashioned fun.
