  • Absolute Bliss

"The daily grind of long commutes into a major metropolis to manage fast-paced offices had taken its toll on me and my husband. A time away to rest and reconnect was desperately needed. Martha’s Vineyard was the perfect location for our needs. This was our first visit to the island. And no, it will not be our last. The island holds many treasures and we enjoyed every aspect from the ferry ride to the short journey to glorious beaches, beautiful woods, lighthouses, restaurants, browsing shops on cobblestone streets, and our oasis in Oyster Watcha Meadow. We even enjoyed our one day of rain! Karen and Paul were the perfect hosts. Thank you for sharing your home. Any item needed was readily available. The kitchen was superbly stocked as was the rest of the home. So much so I was inspired to bake while on vacation. That has never happened. The pool: ahh!! I too am reluctant to provide a review as I would like to keep this gem a secret. Our favorite spot was Long Point Beach; we came across a well known actor there who is one of our favorites. He looked just as relaxed as we did so we greeting one another and moved on. You will not be disappointed. We look forward to returning next year, maybe even this fall with the family."

  • Thanksgiving Getaway

"This home was just perfect for my blended family to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. Honestly, the pictures don't do the property justice. The house is larger than it appears, and several upgrades have been made that are not shown in the photos. Most notably, we loved the master bathroom! The inverted layout allows guests to really capture the sunset and the views. Although we visited in November, we still made the short 1/2 mile jaunt to South Beach (right fork), just so we could spend a moment on the (cold!) beach. Ahhhh…bliss. Thanksgiving was a cinch to prepare for in the well equipped kitchen. The open floor plan upstairs made cooking and entertaining a pleasure. My island based family appreciated the home as much as my off-island-never-been-to-the-Vineyard-inlaws. The home owners were a delight to make arrangements with for the holiday. Speaking with Denise on the phone was like chatting with an old friend I'd known for years! She was very accommodating and clearly takes pride in her home. Everything was spectacular. I would easily recommend this home to my friends, family, you name it!"

  • A real gem!

"I almost hate to write a review for this spot -- its a great MV best kept secret! This is a very sweet little cottage perfectly located on Katama Rd. By bike, it is litterally 5 minutes to the beach and 5 minutes to Edgartown. The cottage itself is clean, well-appointed and has all the comforts of home. And the "garden cottage" is a great description as it is surrounded by lovely Cape Cod flora and fauna. What makes it even better is that its pet friendly. My 12 year old bl lab was very comfortable sitting in the shade and taking in the sea air even on the hottest of days. There is a lovely breeze most of the time and when there is not one, there are fans available. The owner summer home is right next door in case there any problems but they are non-intrusive and in fact, I did not even realize they were there until the last day or so. I would not hesitate to rent this cottage again!"

  • Magical Getaway in Martha's Vineyard

"We rented this property for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. Walking into it for the first time was like entering a photo-spread in House Beautiful. It was exquisitely decorated and had every amenity possible. Its country-french flair was inviting and extremely comfortable to "hang out" in. The large deck off the kitchen, nestled amidst hydrangea bushes bursting with flowers and constant cool breezes, was our favorite place to gather; whether it was with our morning coffee and quickbread, or our afternoon wine and cheese (fresh daily from Morning Glory Farm just a short bike ride away). The location was perfect. We had a car, but usually chose the easy walk into town or to bike to our destination. This was far from a typical rental property as evidenced by the quality of the linens, kitchenware, furnishings, and amenities available. The owner has graciously opened her home to travelers and provided everything possible for a memorable vacation."

Edgartown Travel Tips

Plan Your Martha’s Vineyard Vacation in Edgartown Lodging

When it’s time to relax and get away from the normal tourist crowds during your trip to New England, Edgartown lodging offers unique opportunities to explore the coast of Massachusetts. Known for catering to the rich and famous on their vacations as well, Edgartown was the first settlement in the area of Martha’s Vineyard, and several specimens from the early 19th century have remained for all to appreciate.

Choose Edgartown Lodging for a Unique Look into History

Many of the Edgartown rentals are actually former homes of whaling captains who built the impressive houses in the early 19th century. You’ll be impressed at the quality of the craftsmanship and maintained grounds that make Martha’s Vineyard rentals seem like part of a museum exhibit from the past.

Visit Historical Homes near Edgartown Rentals

Other than the homes used for Edgartown lodging and private residences, there are a few that demand a special visit during your stay. The Vincent House is the oldest home on the island, and currently serves as a museum. Take a walk from your Edgartown rentals to see another collection of historical artifacts at the Thomas Cooke House.

In 1760, Benjamin Smith built a Greek revival home on South Summer Street that attracts visitors from Martha’s Vineyard rentals on a daily basis. It now serves as an office for the local paper, the Vineyard Gazette.

Enjoy the Local Beaches While Staying in Martha’s Vineyard Rentals

If you’re lucky enough to find Edgartown lodging on the beach, you may have access to your own private stretch of sand during your vacation. If not, several public access beaches are available for your use. Even in colder weather, the view from Norton’s Point, also known as South Beach, is a wonderful way to see the sand dunes of the area surrounding Edgartown rentals. Lighthouse Beach is another popular area among visitors to Martha’s Vineyard rentals where they can simply nap in the sun, take a ride along the bike paths, or swim in the ocean in warmer months.
