  • Amazing Place to Stay in the heart of Edgartown!

"We rented this house for a large wedding party, and it could not have been a more perfect fit for our group. We had 23 people, and the house was spacious enough to accommodate all of us. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated and the kitchen and living areas were great. We didn't spend as much time in the house as would have liked, as we had many activities related to the wedding, so we even talked about coming back and renting it again as a group and possibly having a party on the property. It would be the perfect spot for an outdoor garden cocktail party. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the home for any large groups traveling to the Vineyard."

  • A Grand Vacation

"This was our family's second stay at this location. It was better than the first. We had 4-5 stay here and 4-5 at another location. The grandchildren loved that they could ride bikes around the circle and walk to the bakery and candy store. The adults were happy that the children were happy. Eating and cooking was a little difficult with 9 people but we had the table, backyard table and the porch and we tend to cook some and order out to go with it. Not fun to bring 4 young ones to a restaurant. The house was clean and ready when we arrived. Our only question was about Wi-Fi but Jonathan had checked with us to see if everything was OK and I called and asked for password. My fault I didn't read the booklet on the table. The caretaker also stopped in the first day to check on us. Activities included West Tisbury Farmers Market, fishing at Menemsha, beaches, children's performance of Beauty and the Beast, painting lanterns at Tabernacle , biking, 2 tours Trustees of the Reservation (family friendly)on Chappaquidick, Illumination of the lanterns, fireworks, West Tisbury Agricultural Fair(a real old fashioned fair), Chilmark Flea Market and back door donuts. If you don't have a car or bike, no problem. There are buses that go all over the island at a very reasonable price. Only drawback is the ferry reservations. We didn't call early enough and arrived at 8:00 AM and leaving was at 9:00 PM. Did I mention that the weather was perfect. Loved every minute."

  • Grande Dame

"The home is a real Grande Dame of Oak Bluffs - a relic of the past, 1860s I believe. It has been updated tastefully, and comfortably. Biggest issue we had is that it is located so close to Backdoor Donuts that in the evenings, gentle winds brought gusts of olfactory joy in the form of warm, freshly baked apple fritters and other similar treats. We couldn't resist, and the consumption of donuts before bedtime became a nightly ritual that we grew afraid to break. The owner gave us a suggestion for what was our favorite meal on the island. We went to Menemsha Beach an hour before sunset, and bought the Sunset Special (take out) from Menemsha Fish Market for $19 a head: included a freshly caught and steamed 1.25 pound lobster, large stuffed clam, clam chowder or lobster bisque, cole slaw and corn. They provided everything we needed (napkins, plastic flatware, etc.). (It's messy.) What a value. What an experience. A lobster picnic on the beach at sunset. Our family will never forget that. At the instant that the sun disappears on the horizon, everyone on the beach claps, as if to applaud the performance that only nature can deliver. We loved the house. We loved the vacation. We love the memories. It was a privilege to be there, and we hope to be able to make this an annual reunion for our family."

  • Choice Vacation Getaway

"After driving down the winding New England path, you come to a group of houses nestled in the middle of a meadow. You can't help but notice the well kept lawn, blooming flowers, and a sparkling swimming pool. When you enter the main house you know you've come home. Rooms are tastefully furnished, yet very comfortable with many conveniences. You can work out, play ping-pong, or just relax in your own hot tub. Bill and Betty Jean live on site, yet they are almost invisible, as are the renters in the nearby "Guest House." But Bill or Betty Jean are always available if there is a problem, or if you need directions, a recommendation, or a short chat. True, the house is not in the middle of town or directly on the beach; it is located mid-Island, convenient to everywhere. Do you want to take a bike ride, go to the beach, or browse in town? Jennie Lane is just a short drive there. This was our fourth trip to Jennie Lane, and we can't think of staying anywhere else. It is one of the most relaxing and reasonable spots on Martha's Vineyard."
