  • Wonderful Cottage

"I would definitely recommend this house. My wife and I have been coming to the Vineyard for more than a decade now and this is the first time we've loved a place so much that we've wanted to return. We have two young children and the meadow and the little beach on the quiet lagoon were just perfect for us. It's not far from Vineyard Haven and the trip to Oak Bluffs makes a good bike ride. The house is very comfortable and has enough space that we were fine even on the rainy days. My personal favorite aspect to the house is the wonderful view. Any time of day in any weather, the view through the windows over the lagoon is just idyllic; perfect from a chair with coffee, tea, a beer or a glass of wine. Though my wife and I had already quietly made up our minds to return this year, my five year old daughter came up to me one morning near the end of November and asked, "Daddy, can we go back to the summer house we stayed at this year?" Needless to say, we're booked again for this summer - can't wait."

  • Exactly As Described - Historic and Comfortable

"This was our first visit to Martha's Vineyard, and we chose to stay in a central location to use as a launching pad for exploring the island. Two families shared the home. The home is across from Nantucket Sound where the water is calm, which was excellent for our 6 year old daughter. That beach is referred to as "the Inkwell" and is apparently very well known. Surprisingly, this home, built in the late 1800s, has central air conditioning, something you would rarely find in France. Being in the center of downtown was more than convenient. The bus leaves from the park in front of the home, and we used it to explore Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and Aquinnah. In fact, it was so convenient we used it to go the airport when we departed. The home is exactly as described. It is in excellent condition, and the biggest problem we had was that one light switch was tricky to get into the off position. It is an old house with a few creaky floorboards and other idiosyncratic matters, but the owners have spared no expense in bringing everything possible up to date. We enjoyed the gourmet kitchen and found the round table there to be the nerve center of our holiday - we spent a lot of time at that table. The dining table is also a major gathering place - it is a beautiful table made from what appears to be local wood, and has a nice oval shape for large gatherings. We grilled on the back porch, which was convenient to the kitchen. The electronics are up to date: wifi, flat screen TVs (two with built in DVD players - made showing movies to our young daughter easy as I am never able to figure out the separate DVD player), new appliances in the kitchen, etc. This is an excellent choice. You will not be disappointed."

  • Our favorite place to stay on MV

"Having spent over 25 years of summer, vacationing on MV, clearly it's a favorite destination for my family and me. This cozy little house, perched on a hill, made us welcome the moment we arrived. The sounds of the fishing boats in the morning, spectacular Lucy Vincent Beach (only minutes away) in the afternoon, the lovely breeze through the master bedroom during a late afternoon nap.Topped off with, a short walk to Menemsha beach for lobsters and sunset. What more could we want. Oh, and did I mention the breeze........"

  • vacation on Martha's Vineyard

"Found that the property exceeded my expectations from every point of view. While we found the property as we expected from the descriptions, it was also clean, well maintained and very pleasantly and comfortably furnished. The lawn area was well maintained and large, the property was a little back from the road and amazingly private and quiet. It had two large patios which were well used. Close to the Aquinnah beach, and close enough to other restaurants and food stores. Would recommend this property to anyone."
