"My wife and I were in town for a wedding and wanted a house rather than a hotel room. This was perfect for the two of us. House is very comfortable (could have easily housed a couple more people) and was well equipped with everything you need. It is an easy walk into town (maybe 20 minutes) but nice and quiet at the house. A great spot and we'd certainly rent it again the next time we need a house in Nantucket."Guest: JB Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 28, 2014View listing
"This home is beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained. It is the perfect setting for a large family or group. The common areas comfortable accomodate a group and the house also provides ample private spaces to relax in. The proximity to town makes it easy for all to come and go as they please."Guest: Maria Date of Stay: April 2014 Review Submitted: April 17, 2014View listing
"This was my first time ever renting a home through VRBO. I can only hope that any future rentals will be as seamless as this one. Annie, the owner, was fantastic and walked me through every step of this process. The house was the perfect spot for our group (5 couples). We all had plenty of room and never felt like we were on top of each other. My favorite part of the house was definitely the deck out back. It is the perfect place to relax during the day and enjoy a cocktail at night. The location can't be beat-- it is a very quick walk to town (and the beach). I will definitely be back to Nantucket and will be staying at this home!"Guest: Jeannie D. Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 15, 2014View listing
"Spent a week at this house and it worked out very well. It is a perfect mid-Island spot to get around from on foot, bike and WAVE. Also convenient to a fish market, liquor store and the Nantucket Bake Shop !!! What more can you want? Biked to Surfside and Cisco; took the WAVE to Siasconset. Restaurants are nearby as well and the Stop & Shop is just a mile. A great location at a house with bunny rabbits and on a quiet road for sleeping and bicycling."Guest: Cheryl A L. Nantucket Town Travel Tips
Need Nantucket Rentals for Your Next Trip?
Located just about 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod is Nantucket Island. The quiet harbors, sandy beaches, old mansions and gardens, dramatic cliffs, and the interesting history give Nantucket rentals an extra edge over other Cape Cod accommodations. Though the island itself is small, people come in droves to Nantucket beach homes year after year. It is best seen during the summer, but Nantucket lodging is available throughout the year.
Getting into Nantucket Rentals
Because it is an island, the only way to access your Nantucket lodging from the mainland is either by air or sea. The name of the town literally means “faraway island” and that is the way locals and tourists alike prefer it. During the summer, there are plenty of ferries and small airlines that you can choose from. In the winter, while there are still such services, their timetables are reduced. Once you get to Nantucket beach homes, you may not want to return anyway!
Seeing the Island from Nantucket Beach Homes
The island is so small that you do not always need a car to get from Nantucket rentals during the summer. A great way to see the island is by using the various two-way paved bike paths which are along each major road on the island. If you do not already have a bicycle at your Nantucket lodging, do not worry! There are plenty of bike rental shops in town that can help your whole family. With a bicycle, you will have no trouble spending the day at the lovely beaches all over the island as well.
History’s Influence on Nantucket Lodging
You cannot book Nantucket beach homes without getting a glimpse into the island’s past as the whaling capital of the world. In fact, many Nantucket rentals are homes which were built back in the 1800s. Some of the red brick homes were owned by the wealthiest of whalers back during that time. Some historic sites to see while staying at Nantucket lodging include the Brant Point Light, Sankaty Head, the Oldest House, and the Old Windmill to name a few.
