  • 'Sconset charmer

"This was our third year at Ivy Lodge, and our 12th summer on Nantucket. We initially found the cottage through one of the realtors on Nantucket. When we saw the home on HomeAway, we decided to deal directly with the owners for the first time this year. Loraine was very nice and accomodating. The home is perfectly situated one block from the village square, Casino tennis, and the beach. We feel comfortable letting the kids go down to the movies, go out for ice cream, or get a head start to the beach. The home itself is a true 'Sconset cottage, the pictures represented on this site are very accurate. It is well cleaned and maintained. It is not a new or updated cottage, it has rustic charms, but it is in good repair. My wife and I travel with our nanny and 3 children and often have another couple or our inlaws join us for part of our trip. The duplex feature of this home allows for us to have plenty of space and not constantly be on top of each other. This house is a great value when considering its size, true sleeping capacity, and location. The front porch is wonderful for dinner parties or enjoying a quiet cocktail at the end of the day. Ivy Lodge provides the authentic 'Sconset getaway and "post card charm." --The Harrison Family--"

  • A well-loved family home, open to visitors

"This house is exactly as described: charming and comfortable. It's not just a rental--the owners use it and it's equipped to reflect that. The kitchen has good appliances, cookware and tools (a phenomenal lobster pot), the basement is filled with bikes, beach chairs, towels, and all manner of beach toys. I think we appreciated most the nice linens and very comfortable beds. Being a year-round house it doesn't have a real "beach" feeling but the excellent location on a 'Sconset side street puts you just minutes from the beach, the market, restaurants and the bus stop and within blocks of two bike paths. The large, level grassy lot is great for games and spreading out. The house is quiet, so our group, which ranged in age from 9 to 60, could go to bed early, sleep late or make coffee at 7 a.m. without disturbing anyone else. I do give it a couple of dings on privacy, though: the house shares a driveway with a business, which means a fair amount of truck traffic during the day. There's a small house on the same lot that is either another rental or occupied by the owner and her family. Biggest lack: no outside shower, though I've been told one may be in the works soon."

  • Great Times!

"Great place, very short walk to town and had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable, updated bathrooms were very nice. Tons of history, old nantucket charm, we would absolutely recommend "pleasant Times" to friends/family. Looking forward to staying there next year !!"
