"The Flynn Family Cottage is an ideal place for a large family stay on Higgins Lake (or a smaller family). Actually, in our 30+ years going to Higgins, it is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.
On this trip there were eight of us; my wife and me, two sons with their wives and two grandchildren. Everyone had a lot of room to move around in without bumping into one another.
The cottage layout is great. The very large kitchen is separated from the living room. The living room is spacious with comfortable seating for everyone. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The highlights of this location include a long private entry road through the woods that gave it a north woods feel. The beach and fire pit are great. The lake at this point had a smooth sandy bottom and the grandkids (3 & 5) could walk out beyond the end of the dock and it would only be up to their chest. At night on the dock, the stars were magnificent and you could see the Milky Way.
We had a great time and highly recommend the Flynn Family Cottage. We’re going back in 2016!!"

"This is our 3rd year staying at this location and once again we are completely satisfied with the cabin accomodations as well as the owner's thoughtfulness and assistance throughout our stay. The cabin is extremely spacious for a large group and has every comfort of home. We made wonderful feasts each day in the fully equipped kitchen and in the evenings watched the squirrels and chipmunks from the gazebo. This place is truly paradice and I cannot wait until our next trip!"

"My husband and I and our 8 year old son spent a week there. The beach was great, perfect for young children... soft smooth sand. It was combed so there were no weeds which was very nice.
The house was very clean and kitchen very well stocked.
The neighbors made us feel very welcome.
We had a few rain days, we enjoyed Tawas (about 20 min up the road) farmers markets in Au Gres, and a few visits to the Irish resturant, on us23. Great food! Thanks we hope to be back next summer!"

"This place is so spacious and comfortable, I didn't want to leave. We had a group of 15 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchens were well equipped and it was easy to cook a nice meal for a large crowd with two of everything. It was nice having the washer and dryer, especially with kids. We loved the huge covered deck with ceiling fans and large tables and chairs. The view was amazing and we even saw an eagle as we sipped our coffee on the deck one morning. The lodge is clean and beautifully decorated. I liked that one side of the lodge was nautical themed and the other side was woodsy themed. Everything was perfect. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice breeze provided by the large window in each bedroom. I loved the ceiling fans in every bed room too. We all took showers and didn't run out of hot water. The lodge was certainly built with comfort, convenience and character in mind.
Long Lake is clean and clear with lots of fish. The best ones we caught were right off our own dock. We swam and thoroughly enjoyed being on the lake 24/7. The back yard is spacious and we set up a volley ball net. We also enjoyed the ping pong table in the basement. It was nice being able to spread out, if some wanted to play a board game and others wanted to watch a movie. I liked that two of the bedrooms and bathrooms were on the main floor for my elderly parents that can't maneuver stairs.
We would love to make the long lake lookout lodge an annual place to gather every year. It certainly is a home away from home in every aspect. Can't wait to go again!"
