  • Prefect week on the lake!

"Three generations of my family enjoyed this clean and nicely decorated cottage on beautiful Grand Lake. It was so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed using the bikes and having campfires in the evening. Plenty of room for everyone and the guesthouse and fort are great for additional sleeping space. Great location to visit Alpena, Rogers City and several lighthouses. We even rented a pontoon boat on Grand Lake and the kids fished with their grandfather for the day. Overall, a great trip at a great cottage. We hope to come again! Owners are very helpful and our deposit was returned promptly which was appreciated."

  • Beautiful views and location; great cottage

"My sons, boyfriend, and I really enjoyed our first stay at Higgins Lake! The lake is beautiful! We brought our boat for tubing and fishing, and had a great time. The views from the cabin were great, and it was so relaxing to sit on the swing, looking out on the lake. The cabin had everything we needed. The updated bathroom was very nice. I would recommend going to the Silver Dollar (can walk to it). Nice people, huge portions."

  • Beautiful Cabin, Amazing Service, Great Vacation!

"We rented the cabin for a week in August for a family vacation / college reunion. The first part of the week we had three couples and several young kids. The second part of the week, we had 8 guys get together for an annual reunion. The place was perfect for both groups. Everyone had a blast, there was so much to do! Fishing, hot tub, swimming, boating, roasting marshmallows, kayaking and horseshoes. There are several golf courses nearby, a zipline course, and plenty of other activities in Gladwin or West Branch. Two Scoops Ice Cream and The Camp are right up the road and offer some great, nearby food options. The inclusion of the pontoon with the rental was a great bonus, and really made the week a lot more fun. The lake is small and murky, there is no beach or swimming off the dock, but if you take the boat out to the middle its deep enough for swimming. We did quite a bit of fishing, catching mostly small stuff, but it was still a good time. The cabin itself is really the highlight. Its beautifully maintained, with plenty of room. Our group of 8 adult men were very comfortable and never felt crowded. Three bathrooms was definitely a plus! Beautiful views of the lake, a nice deck and firepit were great too. WiFi would be nice, but most of us had decent cell service so it really wasn't that big of a deal. The owners are also very responsive. When we arrived, we noticed that the firewood was almost completely gone, and that the burners in the grill had rusted through. I sent a note to the owners just to let them know, and the next day a truckload of Firewood arrived and the owner showed up with a brand new grill. Amazing service! Thanks again for a fantastic week!"

  • A Cottage, NOT!

"My idea of a cottage is an old, musky and well-worn place, where you have to listen to a squeaky old screen door that doesn't quite close. Where mosquitos follow you indoors and outdoors. This is anything but a cottage. It is a private get-away. A retreat. A place where you can watch the sunrise, skip stones and have a private campfire. We used this as our base, which is only 20 minutes from the "Mighty Mac." While there we visited the Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, Sleepy Bear Dunes, Mackinaw City, and Mackinac Island. The only reason we would not recommend this place is because we want to go next year and don't want the competition."
