"My husband and I were looking for a private getaway and we found it! The video lets you know exactly what you are getting and the cabin is even nicer than shown. It is large and roomy with beautiful views out all the windows. The large deck out back was peaceful, the freighters were fun to watch going by with binoculars that were provided. Our two dogs loved the water and spent their time chasing the chipmunks. The bed and furniture were very comfortable, we had way more space than we needed. This would be a wonderful place for a family with small children to play in the sand and wade in the shallow water. We enjoyed our stay very much."

"We have rented Tattrie's cottage a number of times over the years. We have never had anything close to a bad experience on any of our vacations. I think this was our 4th time renting and we plan to return every year. Opal lake is northern Michigan's best kept secret and Tattries cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the area. The cottage is always clean, sleeps plenty and has everything you could want. Some people enjoy the out of state escape vacation. I personally love driving a couple hours and having my vacation start when I walk in the door. If you are expecting a 5 star resort with pool attendants and maids, room service etc, this is not the place for you. It is a cottage, a cute perfect cottage in an great location. I have been coming to Opal lake since I was a child, I dreamed of retiring or living on this lake when I grew up. Tattries gives me the opportunity to live that dream every year I visit. My wife and kids have fallen in love as I did. See you next year."

"Luckily, we had a HOT week, at Higgins Lake... It was such a pleasure to come in from the water and have A/C. This cottage is in a great location, a good family cottage, with a good beach, that you can walk out, into the water, for quite a ways, in a sandy part of the lake. We had the grandkids with us, so this was important. The cottage has a homey atmosphere and porch views are incredible. The tranquility of this place, says it all.
The property manager was very accommodating and was right on top of the few issues that we had.
The Dish TV and phone reception were good. I've booked for another week, for 2016. The cottage has an "old cottage feel, with wooden floors, and an expansive view of beautiful Higgins Lake."
I would highly recommend this place...It's just perfect to "chillax" and enjoy the beauty and sounds of silence. Another Higgins Lake memory..."

"Our family of four enjoyed our time very much. The cottage and Mullett Lake were perfect for our interests in bicycling and kayaking. The screened porch was the best spot for sunrise coffee and all our meals. The warm hospitality of Jan and Kevin make this rental stand out. The cottage is on the same property as their year-round home, and they checked on our enjoyment regularly and offered helpful advice, bike storage in their garage, and floating things for the lake. Plus wifi, which was nice for communications but a bit slow for downloads. Cable TV was ample.
The cottage was economical in every way. No wasted space here! The kitchen has got everything you'd need for any amount of cooking. The bedrooms were snug (a full-size bed and a dresser in each), so we were glad to have the “sleeping loft” for one of our teens; it also has a bed.
Location between towns of Cheboygan and Indian River provided all necessities and some fun activities without touristy trash like Mackinaw City, which is nearby if you really want fudge and tee shirts. The lake was clear, not too cold, and sandy off the nice dock. They provide room for a boat if you bring one.
The North Central Trail runs just behind the property, great for biking and running. It's a nicely maintained rail-to-trail for all seasons. Not far from I-75 for jaunts up to Mackinac, the bridge and U.P. All in all, this was a great place to spend our Up North vacation week!"
