  • Wonderful Winter Retreat!

"We were 3 couples with our dogs (wonderful to find a pet friendly place) that came up for a winter getaway and some ice fishing in January. The home is even nicer than the photos and very comfortable. The owners were WONDERFUL to deal with and very accessible if you have any questions. We would highly recommend this home for a winter or summer rental."

  • Great Comfortable Family Cottage!!!

"The Flynn Family Cottage is an ideal place for a large family stay on Higgins Lake (or a smaller family). Actually, in our 30+ years going to Higgins, it is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. On this trip there were eight of us; my wife and me, two sons with their wives and two grandchildren. Everyone had a lot of room to move around in without bumping into one another. The cottage layout is great. The very large kitchen is separated from the living room. The living room is spacious with comfortable seating for everyone. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The highlights of this location include a long private entry road through the woods that gave it a north woods feel. The beach and fire pit are great. The lake at this point had a smooth sandy bottom and the grandkids (3 & 5) could walk out beyond the end of the dock and it would only be up to their chest. At night on the dock, the stars were magnificent and you could see the Milky Way. We had a great time and highly recommend the Flynn Family Cottage. We’re going back in 2016!!"

  • Beautiful views and location; great cottage

"My sons, boyfriend, and I really enjoyed our first stay at Higgins Lake! The lake is beautiful! We brought our boat for tubing and fishing, and had a great time. The views from the cabin were great, and it was so relaxing to sit on the swing, looking out on the lake. The cabin had everything we needed. The updated bathroom was very nice. I would recommend going to the Silver Dollar (can walk to it). Nice people, huge portions."

Higgins Lake Travel Tips

Enjoy "The Caribbean of the Midwest" While Staying in One of the Higgins Lake Vacation Rentals

Anyone who is lucky enough to spend their time away from home in one of the available Higgins Lake vacation rentals will surely spend many hours appreciating the deep, clear waters of the beautiful lake. It is no surprise that Higgins Lake is a popular summer destination or that it has been touted as "The Caribbean of the Midwest". The gorgeous waters invite all sorts of water sports including fishing. Of the Higgins Lake lodging options, staying in one of the Higgins Lake vacation rentals is a great choice because the houses offer wonderful, money saving amenities.

Top to Bottom: Two State Parks

One of the benefits of staying in one of the available Higgins Lake vacation rentals is that you will have access to two state parks, one at the north shore of the lake and one at the south shore of the lake. With a lake this beautiful, it is no surprise that it has inspired the founding of two separate state parks and that many people have built Higgins Lake houses which dot its shores.

Although both of the parks offer many amenities such as boat launches and camping sites, the southern park is older and more developed. The southern park is also the larger of the two parks. Although the state parks offer Higgins Lake lodging, many people prefer to spend their vacations with a proper roof over their heads and opt to stay in one of the rentable Higgins Lake houses instead of in a tent.

Higgins Lake Vacation Rentals Spell Savings

A great way to save money on your vacation in this area is to stay in one of the Higgins Lake houses. Other Higgins Lake lodging options such as nearby hotels may not be as cost effective, especially when you consider the cost of eating out and having the hotel take care of your laundry.
