"This is our 3rd year staying at this location and once again we are completely satisfied with the cabin accomodations as well as the owner's thoughtfulness and assistance throughout our stay. The cabin is extremely spacious for a large group and has every comfort of home. We made wonderful feasts each day in the fully equipped kitchen and in the evenings watched the squirrels and chipmunks from the gazebo. This place is truly paradice and I cannot wait until our next trip!"

"My idea of a cottage is an old, musky and well-worn place, where you have to listen to a squeaky old screen door that doesn't quite close. Where mosquitos follow you indoors and outdoors. This is anything but a cottage. It is a private get-away. A retreat. A place where you can watch the sunrise, skip stones and have a private campfire.
We used this as our base, which is only 20 minutes from the "Mighty Mac." While there we visited the Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, Sleepy Bear Dunes, Mackinaw City, and Mackinac Island. The only reason we would not recommend this place is because we want to go next year and don't want the competition."

"We rented the cabin for a week in August for a family vacation / college reunion. The first part of the week we had three couples and several young kids. The second part of the week, we had 8 guys get together for an annual reunion. The place was perfect for both groups.
Everyone had a blast, there was so much to do! Fishing, hot tub, swimming, boating, roasting marshmallows, kayaking and horseshoes. There are several golf courses nearby, a zipline course, and plenty of other activities in Gladwin or West Branch. Two Scoops Ice Cream and The Camp are right up the road and offer some great, nearby food options.
The inclusion of the pontoon with the rental was a great bonus, and really made the week a lot more fun. The lake is small and murky, there is no beach or swimming off the dock, but if you take the boat out to the middle its deep enough for swimming. We did quite a bit of fishing, catching mostly small stuff, but it was still a good time.
The cabin itself is really the highlight. Its beautifully maintained, with plenty of room. Our group of 8 adult men were very comfortable and never felt crowded. Three bathrooms was definitely a plus! Beautiful views of the lake, a nice deck and firepit were great too. WiFi would be nice, but most of us had decent cell service so it really wasn't that big of a deal.
The owners are also very responsive. When we arrived, we noticed that the firewood was almost completely gone, and that the burners in the grill had rusted through. I sent a note to the owners just to let them know, and the next day a truckload of Firewood arrived and the owner showed up with a brand new grill. Amazing service! Thanks again for a fantastic week!"

"This place is so spacious and comfortable, I didn't want to leave. We had a group of 15 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchens were well equipped and it was easy to cook a nice meal for a large crowd with two of everything. It was nice having the washer and dryer, especially with kids. We loved the huge covered deck with ceiling fans and large tables and chairs. The view was amazing and we even saw an eagle as we sipped our coffee on the deck one morning. The lodge is clean and beautifully decorated. I liked that one side of the lodge was nautical themed and the other side was woodsy themed. Everything was perfect. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice breeze provided by the large window in each bedroom. I loved the ceiling fans in every bed room too. We all took showers and didn't run out of hot water. The lodge was certainly built with comfort, convenience and character in mind.
Long Lake is clean and clear with lots of fish. The best ones we caught were right off our own dock. We swam and thoroughly enjoyed being on the lake 24/7. The back yard is spacious and we set up a volley ball net. We also enjoyed the ping pong table in the basement. It was nice being able to spread out, if some wanted to play a board game and others wanted to watch a movie. I liked that two of the bedrooms and bathrooms were on the main floor for my elderly parents that can't maneuver stairs.
We would love to make the long lake lookout lodge an annual place to gather every year. It certainly is a home away from home in every aspect. Can't wait to go again!"
