  • 25th Anniversary retreat!

"We came here for our 25th anniversary. First time away with no kids in over 8 years...worth the wait! Beautiful sunrises, perfect weather 70 all weekend and sunny skies! Husband caught two small mouthed bass and one was huge! We fished, boated, walked on trail behind cabin and went to eat a few times at Breakers and Hoppies Tavern. Just relaxed, read, hot tub everyday...at night was the best with cool clear skies and a full moon!... walked, fished and husband did a lot of fishing most of the weekend. Had ducks come right up to deck and saw loons and a bald eagle. Loved it...thanks John and Dorene for being so helpful! Hoping to be back next summer for a week!"

  • Absolutely amazing weekend in a beautiful place

"We shared a wonderful weekend with my parents at Uncle Frank's cottage. Our three kids, the two of us, and my parents were all very comfortable in the cabin. It has been furnished with everything you need for a relaxing and fun getaway. It's obvious the owners have put a lot of personal interest into the cabin- it's full of homey touches and fun fish-themed decor. The beds were comfortable and we had all we needed to cook in the kitchen. Outside, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful, secluded place to kick back. It was great that we were able to use the pontoon boat- my husband especially loved trying to tempt the fish while we were there. The roads around the house are not very busy and we enjoyed jogging in the mornings around the lake area and seeing the fall foliage. The fire pit was excellent and the wood provided worked great for building a nice fire for s'mores and stargazing. Really, it was a fabulous location and the owners were great to work with. We would gladly travel here again and recommend it to any friends who are thinking of traveling to the area."

  • Great Vacation

"The house was huge and had so much room...you could easily fit a lot of people and enjoy your day. The weather was great and spent a lot of time on the water in the rivers."

  • Everything you could want and more!

"We were thrilled with the cottage and all it had to offer. Having owned a log home just down the street, we knew that the area was wonderful. This was the first time we had rented and were very happy. The cottage was spotless! It had everything we needed and more. It was great to have WiFi and TV for those times when we just needed to relax. The kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed. So much better then staying in a hotel. The water level was up this year so there wan not much of a beach. It would have been nice to have more sand and area for our grandson to play. The only suggestion I could make is to have a mirror in each of the bedrooms. That would help free up the bathroom when getting ready. We would love to rent it again!"

Mio Travel Tips

Mio Vacation Rentals: The Season of Adventure

Straddling the borders of Big Creek and Mentor Townships is Mio; an unincorporated community with much to offer for those seeking an escape from city distractions. Unlike the large areas that surround it, this small Michigan town (its population barely graces 2000) is ideal for families yearning for a quiet adventure. And Mio vacation rentals remove the usual distances that accompany such days and allow only the thrills to remain. You'll be surrounded by nature and ready always for joy.

Mio Lodging: The Center of the Wild

You relish the physical, you long for the bold, and you're certain that Mio will provide it for you. But you're certain also that another crowded hotel will simply not suffice. Your family can't bear another night tucked inside such small corners. With Northeast Michigan lake houses they won't have to. Before trekking out to discover the world, allow yourself complete ease. Prepare for the fun with all the conveniences of home. Modern style is common (and necessary).

Things to Do Near Mio Lodging

After enjoying a leisurely morning in your Mio lodging, set out to search along the Au Sable River. This massive stretch of water features some of the best fishing in the entire country and some of the best landscapes as well. The views are spectacular. Travel then to the Parmalee Trading Post, which offers canoeing and rafting tours. The Michigan Valley Railroad weaves you through the countryside. Seek out the Huron National Forest, with its 978,725 acres and countless paths to explore. And follow the Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail for horseback riding and scenic views. You'll never be without the wilderness.

Northeast Michigan Lake Houses: Close to the Magic

Allow yourself the chance to indulge in beauty this season. With Mio vacation rentals, you are never far from the wonders of the world. They're instead right beyond your door. Traveling is simple again.
