  • Wonderful cottage

"For the past 12 years, we have had the privilege of staying in this comfy cottage. In 2002 we were here 2 weeks. We stayed 3 weeks in '03, 6 wks. in 04 and then the whole summer from 2005-2014 with the exception of 2012. Needless to say, we love this lake and we love this cottage. Our review comes based on this long-term rental. Positioned between pristine Mullett Lake in front and the Rails to Trails bike and walking path behind, this cottage provides the best of both worlds. The cottage with it's main floor, loft, screened porch and cement patio has all the amenities you could want - air conditioning, wireless internet, cable tv, new mattresses on both full-sized beds, 3 ceiling fans and a fully stocked kitchen. The owners have made many wonderful updates. The kitchen-living room area is all open, the 2 bedrooms are private and the bathroom is small but functional. It is very clean and well maintained. The cottage is in a quiet residential neighborhood. However, we did not vacation here to stay inside the cottage. We spent countless hours on the screened porch or in the large yard relaxing, reading or playing games. The porch provides fresh air and a lovely view of the lake. It also makes the cottage feel much larger. Sharing the lakefront with the cottage owners does not present any problems. There is a wonderful new dock with a ladder at the end for a quick dip in the lake to cool off. There is a boat hoist alongside this dock for your use and we also had 2 jet skiis tied to the mooring buoys. There is a yard swing at the water's edge as well as a fire pit. The close proximity to the bike trail is an added benefit. I walked daily on the tree-lined path seeing wildflowers and listening to birds chirp. We have become grandparents and so would like to stay home during the summer. Otherwise we would not want to give up renting here. We whole-heartedly recommend this lovely cottage."

  • Awesome location, neighbors were very friendly

"The family, including our dog Oreo, loved this cottage! We will be back. The house was clean & perfect size for a family of 5 and the private sandy walk into the lake was the absolute best!! The grounds had a great mix of trees and grassy areas to play soccer and football. The sandy bottom & shallow water for what seemed like 100 yards was perfect for the children to play, swim and fish along the deeper ledge in the row boat provided by the owners. We did bring our bikes and the neighborhood was perfect for the young children to ride in, but next year we will for sure do the local bike path to Mackinaw. The only wish we would have is that the cot that was offered for an additional person be replaced & the living room futon a smidge larger, definitely not a show stopper to come back :-) Thank you Sandy & Michael for sharing your "Grandma's Cottage", it was fantastic. This has already be recommended to other extended family members as well as close friends that are totally interested."

  • Older cabin charm

"Easy access to Topinabee and Indian River by power boat. Clean and well maintained, it has rustic wooden paneling and decor that will take you back in time a when you arrive. Sunsets are beautiful for this location. On demand water heater means you don't run out of hot water - even when the cabin is at full capacity."

  • Great Family Vacation Home

"This vacation rental was perfect for our 3 generation family. We had no problem finding the rental, and we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations even though the listing description and photos accurately reflected the appearance of the property. The layout of the house fit our needs perfectly and worked well for us regardless of the weather. The property was very clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything we needed and more. The location is great for forays to Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, and even Petoskey. There are some outstanding golf courses and restaurants around, and we even rented a pontoon boat at a Mullett Lake marina for a cruise around the lake one day. The shore at the rental is a bit rocky, but if you swim off the end of the dock, there is no problem. Water shoes can make it even better. We would definitely recommend this rental for anyone wanting to enjoy some pure "Up North" Michigan."
