  • Charming, warm lake house with beautiful view

"Being from California, I had never really seen fall color, so we decided upon Michigan this year to have a real "autumn" experience. We spent several nights at this lovely cottage on Clear Lake. Because of the time of year, it was quiet and tranquil and the view across the water was gorgeous. The autumn weather was lovely and the leaves were vibrant. It was warm enough during the day to go out and walk in the woods, and kayak and paddle board, but cool enough in the evening to snuggle by the fire place (which works and warms great). I don't think the photos of the cabin really fairly show how close you are to the edge of the lake; you can hear the water lapping against the shore. The cottage is a wee bit dated, but I found that entirely charming and warm. The owner has recently added WiFi service, so that is not longer an inconvenience. And the food at the local bar is pretty dang good. Highly recommend a stay here on Clear Lake."

  • Great place to get away from the downstate rat race.....

"Fun place - not too many places where you can be on a lake and not see anyone on the water. We had some great days of catch n release bass fishing. Floated the AuSable (only 15 minutes north - 3 hour float not one cabin). Sandy beaches on Lake Huron another day (about 40-45 minutes). Also had lots of BDB's (Back Deck Beers) on huge back deck. Saw a bald eagle perched on a tree overlooking the lake one day - (nice way to start the morning). Lake is clear (very few weeds) - fun for swimming and relaxing. The kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Board were a bonus. Interior of cabin is comfortable with a big kitchen and living room. Another bonus if coming from Detroit area is the drive is easy - a little less then 3 hours. I will be back."

  • vacation at Hubbard lake

"We all had a great time. Lots of fun & great memories! Our grandkids, 2- 16 y rs. old & 2-12 yrs old, said this was the best vacation ever. We agree with them also. They always found something to do. Everything was very clean, neat, & very modern. The neighbors were also very pleasant. Thank you for letting us share your cottage. We hope to return next year!"

  • Everything you could want and more!

"We were thrilled with the cottage and all it had to offer. Having owned a log home just down the street, we knew that the area was wonderful. This was the first time we had rented and were very happy. The cottage was spotless! It had everything we needed and more. It was great to have WiFi and TV for those times when we just needed to relax. The kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed. So much better then staying in a hotel. The water level was up this year so there wan not much of a beach. It would have been nice to have more sand and area for our grandson to play. The only suggestion I could make is to have a mirror in each of the bedrooms. That would help free up the bathroom when getting ready. We would love to rent it again!"
