"Arriving on a Saturday, we put our things in the condo and noticed how clean and well maintained it was.
The view from the balcony was super (later I would have a cigar and a glass of wine relax and enjoy the view).
There are many places to dine at in town or buy groceries at Olsons and cook in the condo. A farmers market is open on Thursday's for fresh local products. The beach and park next door make it very handy for sun tanning or relaxing. The next day we went sightseeing; the railroad depot museum had lots of history about it and the stone mushroom houses from the 1880's were cute; the dunes on Lake Michigan are rustic and great for long walks. Played 9 holes at the municipal course (there are 5 others courses to choose from) had a good time.
We took a drive to Fishermans island state park and explored the beautiful trails there. This location is excellent because you can walk to town (10 min.) or drive to nearby points of interest. Oh almost forgot the sunsets are to die for at the lighthouse. The owner was kind and considerate and helpful in arranging our stay there. Excellent stay for us so I will rate our experience a 5 star."

"My husband and I just got back from another 2 weeks at Thayer (this was our 3rd year). Yes, 2 weeks. Our first year here, 10 days just wasn't enough...and honestly, 2 weeks isn't either. We are already thinking of coming back in the fall. This is our third year vacationing here. We love the quiet of the no wake lake, fishing is excellent (mostly bass and pan fish but almost guaranteed to catch a couple - even from the dock - every time you go out), close to things to do (this year we went zip lining in Boyne, last year Sleeping Bear Dunes), cute towns close by (Alden, Bellaire and Traverse City), there is also a Casino.... OR the best part is, you can just sit and gaze at the beauty of the lake, watch the wild life (the loons are really cool - we saw a bald eagle and osprey). If you really need some excitement Torch Lake is right next door.... The cabins are great - newly renovated - the screened in porch on the Oak is the best - brings back childhood memories of family vacations (when we went so distracted by tv, phones/texting and internet)... This is the place to unplug. Also note that the cabins have an natural climate control. They tend to stay cool in the heat and warm when cooler (though be sure to prepare for both extremes at any time of year - there is a small heater and fan but northern Michigan weather can be fickle... this year the coolest at night was about 44 - warmest in day about 80) and not to mention - Tim and Stephanie - they are great...Sum it up: The worse part about this entire experience - leaving."

"Our group of 10 (5 couples) spent the weekend skiing and celebrating a 50th birthday. Idlewood was the perfect spot and accommodated us in every way. We initially had plans to venture out at night, but decided to stay in as the home really allowed us to relax and enjoy each other's company. The skiing was great - truly ski in/out. The kitchen was great. The fireplace was great. The owner of the home was quickly responsive to all my questions beforehand, and a pleasure to work with. This is a highly recommended destination and we look forward to returning."

"My boyfriend and i stayed 3 nights while we property shopped. We werent really sure what to expect because the pictures really dont do it justice. The location is perfect---in a quiet, quaint and friendly neighborhood with the Pere Marquette river in front. And talk about clean! Wow! And thats an understatement coming from a clean freak such as myself. No need to take any linens because it is well stocked and smell terrific. The upstairs loft is so comfy with its king bed, lazy boy, tv with satelite, huge dressers, upper door to that walkway and one heck of a view. We actually used the tray provided and had snacks up there before bed one night.the cupboards are stocked with nice clean dishes, pans, crockpot, micro, toaster, coffe maker coffee filters, ect. I would recommend taking spices if you , like to cook though but there is salt and pepper.Gas grill is like new, also. There were even chocolates in a dish, travel size shampoo, conditioner and a nice oatmeal soap! Much, much more than I expected. Also a hair dryer, girls! The couch is nice leather, it might pull out but we didnt look and there are nice fuzzy blankets to snuggle in with which was great because that river is c o l d. Shower and bathroom is very clean--skip the flip flops this trip! I might take a child, but the sleeping quarters are on different floors (if that couch opens). We just took our dog. There are games also. We met the owners the last day who were very nice. Very detail oriented. I say YES! Stay here for a quiet relaxing get away. We did have one regret however... we spent all of our days driving around the state looking for our own get away and werent able to relax, fish, canoe and play there except for about 5 hours. I did do some swimming with the dog while scott fished though and that little bit was great"
