  • Great Vacation Home

"This place was wonderful. The setting on Lake Leelanau is beautiful. Even with the wooded lake setting, it was roomy and light and airy. I do not think the photos do it justice. We especially liked the two large decks. When it was hot we were down on the deck sitting right on the lake with its cool breezes. When it was cooler or windy, the deck up near the house was perfect. On a rainy day, the room with the pool table came in handy. The sunsets over the lake with friends and a glass of Leelanau wine was heaven."

  • Up North Meets "Urban" Fun

"As two couples traveling together without our kids, this townhouse really appealed to us. Physically, it's very nice. What we also loved its location in downtown Charlevoix, within footsteps of restaurants and "nightlife." We loved the Tap Room next door (great acoustic guitar on Sunday night) for craft beers and casual dinner, or Quay across the street for a more refined dinner (try the mushroom salad and the whitefish provencal--both incredible!), or the bakery right across the street for home-baked goods and good coffee in the morning. The townhouse itself has a nice big deck and gas grill for dinner at home. In addition to Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix itself is close to lots of great lakes for boaters (Torch Lake is a must--it's beautiful!), and less than an hour from Traverse City/Old Mission Peninsula wine country. Two golf courses very close by; Charlevoix more moderate while Belvedere challenging. We managed to do all of it in a week. Because you're so close to shops and restaurants, there's a good buzz of activity all around, loading and shipping happening in the back parking lot, etc. (This does not mar the gorgeous view from the deck.) If you're looking for absence of activity on a deserted lake, look elsewhere. If you like the feeling of being "downtown" (as downtown as Charlevoix can be for a town of less than 3,000 people) while also being immersed in the wonderful Up North culture with beautiful views and high-end accommodations, I would recommend. We hope to return next year!"

  • Great Family Stay

"Our family of six enjoyed a couple of nights stay at this Cadillac cottage. The lake and location was beautiful. We spent quite a bit of time swimming boating and floating on the lake. We also enjoyed biking in the area. The stretch of the White Pine Trail from Cadillac to Tustin was a great morning ride and a really beautiful stretch of the trail. It is very accessible from this cottage just off of 115 on the way towards Cadillac. If you take the trail, there's a great little ice cream shop in Tustin that was started by two teenagers--very impressive and great ice cream. We also took our dog hiking on a beautiful trail across the lake from the cottage. It is a nature preserve. You can get there by boat, or we found you can drive over and park as well (good since there's no way our dog would go in a boat). It's probably about 1.5 miles of hiking in dense forest. We saw three deer while in there. Cadillac is also a really fun town, and the twin lakes have lots of opportunities. The cottage is very nice. We were very comfortable and really enjoyed the screen porch and yard. The owner is very easy to work with and great at communicating and answering questions. His caretaker, brother is also a big help and closeby. We plan to come back. It's also very nice to find a place that can be rented for shorter than a week."

  • Great Getaway!!

"My wife and I booked the cabin for my birthday/Valentines Day. We loved the cabin, it was very cozy inside with the fireplace as the temps dropped outside to -24 with 30mph winds. We spent most of the time in and out of the hot tub as it was way too cold to ride our snowmobiles that weekend, I tried a 2 min ride and it was unbearable but the hot tub was nice and toasty! The cabin has everything you need and is set upon a beautiful overlook making the scene in the winter a true wonderland. We did have some struggles making pancakes in the morning, there is in fact a well equipped full kitchen but they need a griddle:) The local area taverns are close as is a family dollar (griddle shopping) and a fully stocked grocery store is just down the road a bit. We ate dinner on Friday at the Alden Bar and was not impressed at all, the second night we stopped into the local tavern Kritters and the food was super and the décor wild! Take the trip up to Rapid City, very quiet and cozy getaway for 2."
