  • Had a beautiful vacation!

"We have rented several lakefront homes/cottages, and this was truly our favorite! The house was clean and comfortable - nice furniture and new carpeting. Plenty of room for us and our 4 kids, but may have been a little crowded with 8 or more if you get a couple days of rain. Two TV's with movies and video games to kept the kids happy in the evenings and on rainy days - we didn't hear "I'm bored" once. The nearby nature trails allowed the older kids freedom to explore and have some time to themselves. The house had everything we needed - beach toys for the younger kids, kitchen utensils and flatware, lawn chairs, and two refrigerators eliminated the need for repeated trips to the store. It's obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into making sure we had everything - right down to the beach towels and the spare LP tank for the grill. The location was perfect - 15 minutes to either Charlevoix or Boyne City, and perfect distance for a day trip to Mackinac Island or Traverse city. The lake is big enough that we didn't hear the constant droning of jet-ski's typical of smaller lakes. If you have one, definitely bring your boat! Shoppers' docks at Charlevoix, and public slips at Boyne City allowed us to do most everything we needed to do from the water, without the need to deal with peak season traffic and parking. Plus so many other things to see and do on the boat - Lake Michigan, Oyster Bay, waterfront dining, sunsets - you can spend the entire week on the water. The neighbors were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. On our day of departure we had to pack up and hurry off ahead of an approaching storm, so we never had a chance to thank them, but they truly made the difference."

  • Lucas Grandma

"This is the 4th year that we have vacationed at Birchwood Cove. This is the first time we have rented the house. This was a family vacation 17 all together. We each had our own space and the sleeping arrangements were adequate. The beach was superb. Great place for young children, ours were 11 months to 8 years and all had a great time in the water. The porch was great. I would recommend it to anyone that has more than 4 people. It was easily accessible even though it was a tri-level. Not too many stairs. Would love to rent this house again next year."

  • Fun place to stay!

"I had a large group of 20-something year olds who absolutely loved staying here! We loved the house and the clubhouse with all the games. Also, a group went out ice fishing as well. We skied at nearby Caberfae Peaks, which was really nice and affordable. We all imagined that this cottage would be wonderful in the summer as well. It was really nice to have 4 bathrooms. The only downfalls were that the kitchen is kind of small and there was no place to store extra food that we brought (all the cupboards are filled with cookware). Additionally, the hot tub had too many chemicals (which was an accident I'm sure- we forgot to check the pH ourselves before getting in), but it left our bathing suits bleached and our skin raw after just 15 minutes of use. Other than those two things- we thoroughly enjoyed the home!"

  • 2nd time... still awesome!

"This is the 2nd summer we have rented this cottage. We also rented the smaller 2 bedroom next door. Everything is there for you. No need to ever leave. 9 kids played all week in the sand, kayaked, swam, fished, woods walked. It was a great week. Fires every night after the kids went to bed. So relaxing. The house is well equipped with everything you need. Ludington is only 20 minutes away if you want a day of shopping or a Lake MI beach. We're going back, the kid's and grand-kids insist!"
