  • week away in August

"My husband and I came here for a getaway in August. We love the Leelanau area and like to come up and travel around the entire area. The lovely cottage is not too far off the beaten path and it is very well taken care of on the inside. And the country roads are so fun to drive around on you get used to it quickly. My husband loves to fish and had great luck the few times he went out using the row boat available at the cottage - perch, bass and blue gill. It is my fault for not inquiring but the steep hike down to the lake (although even steeper returning - lol!) caught be my surprise. We had brought our kayaks but one of them weighs over 70 lbs and we did not think it would be wise to attempt carrying it down the steep hike or back up. Perhaps if you have a 4x4 truck it would be doable? The home is stocked with everything you could need - fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, satellite TV, lots of games and books to peruse. The owners did a fantastic job making it a warm and inviting home. We hated to leave. Leelanau County is truly a gem. Not to be missed: swimming at Christmas Cove in Northport, breakfast at Martha's (Suttons Bay) and dinner at 9 Bean Rows (also Suttons Bay) and always, Fishtown!"

  • Nice and quiet location

"We spend a few days at Lake Bass and it was a wonderful time. The lake is really nice and quiet. The house fits the description on their web site. We have watched the 7 minutes movie which shows a walkthrough the house and it demonstrates what you will get there. The only thing we were a little bit disappointed about was the BBQ-grill and that there were no coal available."

  • Another great vacation!

"This marked our third year vacationing at Boyne Highlands and our second year at this property. The house is very spacoius and well maintained - no complaints. We also love the centralized location with convenient access to the lodge, golf courses (yes, 4 great courses on the resort), and Potoskey/Harbor Springs communities. We would definately stay here again - maybe a ski trip next time... Thanks!"

  • Absolutely Lovely in Every Way

"My daughter and I stayed here for three nights in June before I took her to summer camp. I was extremely nervous because we had rented two other places in the past (one in NC and one in CA) and had to leave both after one night because they were so disgusting and had been so grossly misrepresented in their pictures, etc. This place was even better than we had hoped! We were so relieved. It is decorated beautifully. Even the flowers in the window boxes on the terrace coordinated with the colors inside. The main room is warm and inviting with a cheerful color palette. The two pink sofas are slightly undersized which make them a bit tight if you want to lie down and watch TV or read, but two can sit comfortably. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The bedrooms were decorated more simply (the master has a gas fireplace) and we slept very well. The view from the terrace and the rooftop deck is just beautiful. It overlooks the harbor. The rooftop deck was great for sitting and reading and it is huge. There is a BBQ up there and had we been there longer we probably would have used it. The location can't be beat. You can walk to anything in Harbor Springs, which is quite nice. The town is quite sleepy with not much going on so it's nice to have somewhere beautiful to come back to at the end of the day. It's so nice in fact that we found ourselves not wanting to leave. The restaurants in town are unremarkable (simple food but you won't be dreaming about them after you leave) so it's nice to cook in the apt and sit on the terrace. They have some board games which we played (they could use more) and no movie channels, which would have been nice. Normally we never watch TV on vacation but with so little going on in town, and having already exhausted the board games, it would be a nice addition to the rental--especially in this price point. My 12 year old loved the place and wants to come back next year. WE felt very comfortable and safe both in the apt and in the town. The town itself is so clean and pretty that I can't believe a movie hasn't been filmed there. We went to the Farmer's Market (in town on Wednesdays) and bought some great stuff. A new place in town called Small Batch that hadn't yet opened up while we were there but most likely is now, was selling there baked goods. One thing was more delicious then the next: the quiche, lemon bars, avocado bread...all scrumptious. That's the only food we ate the we keep talking about."
