  • Great Rental!!

"This is a great rental property! There is a master bedroom on the main floor with master bath, family room, dinning room table and a full kicthen with anything you need for cooking or bbqing. There is a television, which we were not sure about until arrival. We do not go on vacation to watch tv, but it is nice to have on rainy days if you have children. Upstairs, there are 2 more bedrooms, 1 has a queen bed and the other has 2 twins. There is another full bathroom up there as well. There is also a half bath on the main floor and basement with washer and dryer. Bath towels and bed linens are provided, which I love because that means I don't have to pack all that bulky stuff along with everything else in my car. You will need to bring beach towels...which is to be expected. We stayed here with another family and there was plenty of room. The house is VERY clean and well cared for and is in a great location. It is just down the street from Empire Beach and the Empire Bluff Trail. 10 minutes (or less) from Sleeping Bear Dunes, 10 minutes to Glen Arbor and 10-15 minutes to Platte River. About 40 minutes to Leland and 30 minutes to Traverse City...very central to all of those things. Dealing with the owner was pleasant and easy. I would stay here again! Loved it here! Sincerely, Elyse C."

  • Unique ! Relaxing ! You wont be disappointed !!!!!

"Clean , comfortable , well equipped , charming , historical touches , sweeping view of the lake , beautiful yard and gardens ..... And to add , the owners are very accommodating and hospitable. The location keeps you in the center of Alden , to enjoy a leisurely walk thru the town , or enjoy the private back yard setting , dock , and view the lake. Alden is centrally located in general , to travel to other points of interest as well , and be back in enough time to take in a sunset on Torch , which are always second to none ."

  • Best place yet!

"I have several friends who get together every year or two since grad school. We are all around 40, some with kids, others single or recently married. We all stayed at this cottage and had a wonderful time. We have stayed in New York City, North Carolina's outer banks, Vermont, and two places further south on Lake Michigan (near Saugatuck.) However, everyone agreed that this place was the best we had ever rented! We usually stay right on a big body of water, but it was really great to have a large in-land lake, as Lake Michigan was so cold this year. It is a short drive to multiple beaches (and of course the dunes!), but this summer it was too cold to swim in Lake Michigan. So, having the sandy bottomed inland lake was great. We also took advantage of the kayaks, paddle-board and sunfish, along with the indoor games of pool, ping-pong & Foosball. The house was in immaculate condition. Many of my friends commented that they thought that the house was too nice to rent out! There are beautiful hardwood floors, nice furniture, actual artwork, and a large custom kitchen that was well stocked with everything needed to cook large meals. Overall, we had a wonderful time and we would definitely rent this cottage again."
