  • Perfect weekend getaway

"My boyfriend and I stayed at this cabin for a weekend. Everyone on the island was very friendly. We had quick responses and communication with the owner of the cabin. The owner of the rental car company did not have a car available on our day of arrival so she picked us up and took us to our cabin then delivered a car to us. All while giving us a tour of the island. We went out to eat and everyone was so friendly and we found people who were from the same home town as us. The cabin was perfect for the price. They are adding onto the cabin but in no way shape or form did this hinder the feeling of staying in a cabin for us. It was nice to be able to use the indoor toilet tho! The bikes and kayaks were a HUGE plus. We went for a 3 hour bike ride and happen to ride by our neighbors(which we found out after we stopped and asked for directions) who were very friendly and gave us many inside tips on the island. We took the kayaks out for a full day. If you are an adventure person and not just a relax on the beach person then this is the perfect spot. You have to truck through a little muck to get the kayaks to the water but it is worth it! Once you get out to the water it is absolutely beautiful. It was only about 72 degrees the day we were out on the water but the water was so warm! The grill and fireplace were great to cook and relax at the end of the night. The shower is out on the back deck of the cabin, kind of tucked away tho, which was a great experience. I loved showering outdoors and just seeing the beauty of everything around. Overall I have no complaints. If you wanted to get away and be left alone and hang out at the cabin all weekend you could or if you wanted to go out and explore you could. We will defiantly be coming back!"

  • What a Wonderful Week on Lake Charlevoix!

"We arrived in Boyne City early on Saturday morning in time to stroll through the Farmers' Market in town, coming away with delicious sweet cherries and huge blueberries, followed by some fun time in the park playground before heading to the cottage to check in. On the following Saturday on the way out of town, we stopped again at the Farmers' Market and purchased some Johnecheck's sweet corn to take home--delicious! A short beautiful drive through the woods opens up to this terrific little cottage with the lake just beyond. It was perfect for my husband and me, along with our adult daughter and our 3 year-old grandson. Our grandson was instantly delighted with and claimed "his space" in the loft. For sleeping purposes until he's a bit older, his mother chose the comfy pull-out sofa twin beds in the large living room. Maybe in a year or so he'll be able to sleep in the loft at night, but for now it's good for nap time with an adult nearby. The weather was absolutely gorgeous during our entire stay...couldn't have ordered any better. There was plenty of space in the sun & sand, the sun & grass and the shade & grass--something for everyone for playing and relaxing. We had multiple fires (wood provided) in the fire pit on the beach. The family had a great time using the kayaks all week. Other highlights of our week were the Boyne City Stroll the Streets on Friday evening, touring (drive-by, not inside) the Earl Young Mushroom Houses and Castle Farms in Charlevoix, as well as rafting the Jordan River. Can't say enough about our fabulous host, Bill!! What a wonderful week on Lake Charlevoix!!!"

  • Exactly what we hoped for

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Clinton Cottage. The location to both town and the beach is ideal. Its close enough to walk to town yet far enough away from the main traffic routes to provide a nice quiet get away. The cottage itself is very cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed our leisurely mornings around the kitchen and back deck and our evenings in the front room and porch. Marlene was very helpful and accommodating. We felt at home and relaxed form the moment we arrived."

  • Like a Parisian Apartment

"My husband and I booked this property after spending a week in the area this summer while our daughter was at Interlochen, with the plans to spend a long weekend with my brother and sister in law. Unfortunately, they were unable at the last minute to join us, so the apartment was more extravagantly sized than we required. It was so completely lovely, though, that we did not regret having it on our own. The space itself has the feel of a Parisian apartment--age and history embued with an individualistic, modern aesthetic, a great balance of comfort and elegance. The details of the decor exceeded what you typically find in a unit designed for rental--the art on the wall, the books on the shelf--felt like a home rather than someone's investment project. The attention to lighting was fantastic: in addition to the expected overhead lighting, there are beautiful overhead fixtures and area lighting that add both atmosphere and utility. Ceilings are enormously high, and the space has much natural light in all but the second bedroom (which is cunningly decorated in a richer color palate and a bit more ornate feel to emphasize a sumptuous feel), and overlooks the front lawn of the property. The Master suite is truly lovely: big enough to be comfortable and small enough to be cozy, with a gigantic window and a tremendous bathroom with a walk in closet with a closet system. We stayed for a long weekend in the fall and did not cook our meals, but I inventoried the kitchen, and it was well stocked, with knives, pots, etc. of higher quality than often found in rentals. Very coo-friendly, though the table is very small, and could only seat 4. The photos on the site truly cannot convey the loveliness of this apartment. The property itself has a couple of good Italian restaurants, an artisanal bakery, winery, coffee roaster/shop, boutiques, a Pilates studio, and a large wooded park with beautifully groomed and marked trails, all of which we used. It is minutes away from any part of downtown Traverse City, and yet is perfectly self contained with amenities if the day is rainy, lazy or both. This is an accommodation we hope to visit again and would recommend without hesitation."
