  • Perfect home for a great vacation

"We stayed for 8 days at Johns wonderful house. The house is clean, spacious and everything you need is available and in very good conditions. The master bedroom is perfect with the master bathroom. The house is perfect for at least 4 adults and 3 kids, like us. John is great and he takes care of he guests! The yard is wonderful and perfect for families with kids. There are two cozy decks and a balcony. We had nearly every day barbecue and made a bonfire in at night. We can just recommend this nice vacation rental."

  • Perfect!

"This was a nice little place to stay. We had four adults and two kids and never felt cramped. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The yard was nice and leads right down to the water. We spent many hours floating in the water during the day and had a fire in the fire pit every night. The water has a very gradual depth and is perfect for young ones. We also brought a boat and were able to pull it right up near the dock and use a mooring post provided by the neighbors who are also the owners parents. The town of Cedar was perfect also. There's a tavern/restaurant called the Cedar Inn. They were always friendly and had decent food. The Rustic Inn, right on your way from the cottage to town, had fantastic family style breakfast! I mean fantastic! There is also a gas station/market in town, Buntings, that has everything you need. The taco stand on the south edge of town was great too, perfect for one of those days were your swimming and everyone is getting hungry and nobody is cleaned up yet. A sack of tacos, chips, guac and salsa will put the seal on a great day! The Sleeping Bear Dunes are a must, along with Leland. Of course a day in Traverse City will make everyone happy too. I would also recommend a winery tour, we made up our own and the wines were great. The Boathouse Vinyards had the best grounds to sit and enjoy your tastings, right on the water with several adirondack chairs that you can move about. The only negative that I can come up with is that the fishing was less than spectacular. Lake Lelanau is big, and maybe we just didn't know the best way to catch fish there. MY brother in law and I were basically shut out, we've both been fishing our whole lives. My niece did catch a four pound bass though, us men were both proud of her but she wouldn't share her secret. Have fun, you'll love it!"

  • Ideal spot, nice house, indescribable views!

"We stayed her in mid-July and had a wonderful time. Everything is as advertised in the listing, only better! It is a nice house, clean, and has everything you need in a location that can't be beat. The view must be seen to be appreciated, especially over the course of a week in different lighting conditions. I would definitely come back during any time of year. The only thing I would change about the house would be to swap one of the queen beds for a pair of fulls, but that's just for the group we had. I would recommend this cottage to just about anyone."

  • A Peaceful Place

"If you like misty fields in the morning and being surrounded with comforting linens, pottery made on site, interesting antiques and collectibles, all to the accompaniment of birdsong, you will love the French Road Farmhouse. The decor suits the setting perfectly making for a very peaceful base of operations for sightseeing to Sleeping Bear Dunes or visiting local small towns and harbor villages. The Leelenau peninsula is dotted with fields of wheat, crops, orchards and pretty farmsteads so even the getting-there is relaxing."
