"Had a wonderful time at the cabin this last week. Great location close to good mountian biking trail (Galacial Hills), hiking (Jordan Valley) and bird watching fun at Grass River Natural area. We spent a good deal of time paddling around Hanley lake and up to Ben-Way Lake, between fishing and bird watching and visiting with people in the channel we were very pleased with our stay. The house was clean and comfortable. The home had a varitey of options for indoor activites, as we had two days of rain, we played games, read a few bird books/MI hiking trails/Kayak books that were provided and varied selection of DVDs to watch. Alll this being stated, what made this house for us what that we could take our dog. Wonderful retreat."

"Our family of 6 kids and 5 adults had a wonderful time in this cottage in June, 2014. The kids loved the water and the water toys (and the grawdads). We enjoyed hours around the fire and searching for fireflies at night. Bellaire and Central Lake had many interesting places to visit. The kids loved Bachmans in Central Lake and the Bellaire Dairy Twist. The cottage was lovely and well-equipped."

"We stayed here with my siblings and all our children and grandchildren and had a great time. The house accommodated all of us fairly well and we appreciated having both the Lake House and the Road House. All you need to bring are your linens and food. Everything else is really there. We did all our cooking together and it was well supplied. Mostly we cooked in the Road House because that kitchen was bigger. The main kitchen is narrow and is where we served the food and all ate together. Having 3 kitchens made the smallness of the main-floor kitchen a non-issue.
We loved, loved, loved all the outdoor spaces of this house. The balcony outside the Lake house is great for eating and watching the lake with lots of additional places tucked around for a quiet place to read or converse with others. The lawn by the road was great for bocce and croquet while the lovely grassy lawn by the lake was perfect for sunning and watching the kids. There is plenty of shade out there as well - unusual for a lake - and allowed everyone a comfortable place to be outside. The lake has a sandy bottom in the shallow area and was perfect for the littlest children. We brought our ski boat, sailboat and wind surf and all were enjoyed. The people on either side of us were also great. A neighbor down the road gave us permission to use the basketball court and the paved driveway worked for our skateboarder.
On top of that the village of Central Lake is a real gem. The community is welcoming and we loved the grocery store, fudge shop and the red-fronted store where if they don't have it you don't need it. Some of us kayaked down for ice cream it's so close. It was also the perfect week for picking sour cherries and we made 5 cherry pies. The U-pick place was 3 miles up the road and they pitted all the cherries for $1/bucket. Great fun!
There are plenty of things to do in the area and TC is only an hour away for those who fly in and out. In summary, I recommend this property very much. Our only real issue was the weather which made us need to remain inside for a few of the days. The living spaces inside were too small for all of us to be together easily. We are a large group! The Irish Twins were very kind and responsive if we needed anything. They made our stay here relaxing and delightful. I do not give 5 star ratings unless a place is beyond fantastic and, to date, I've never stayed in a perfect place. 4-star means you will have a great time with no worries."

"We had a great time at the cottage. The cottage was well maintained and clean upon our arrival. The owner met us there to show us around and make sure we knew how everything worked. We appreciated the updated kitchen and bathroom and found the kitchen suitable stocked the few times we decided to cook. The large patio area was great. It was also really nice to have internet and cable on the one day it just wouldn’t stop raining.
The cottage itself is just off a main road tucked away with 4-5 others cabins/houses. All the properties are very close together but we never experienced any issues and all the neighbors were very friendly. The cabin doesn’t have an amazing lake view but it is still very picturesque and there is lake access (including a dock) for fishing and boating. There is also a beach about a five minute drive down the road.
Our favorite part of the cabin was that it was central to everywhere we wanted to go. During our stay we managed to visit Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Torch Lake, Lake Michigan, and Mackinaw Island along with stops in the smaller towns in the area. If you’re looking for a “home base” that allows you to explore Northern Michigan this would be a great pick. We really enjoyed our time here and hope to come back in the future."
