  • Had a beautiful vacation!

"We have rented several lakefront homes/cottages, and this was truly our favorite! The house was clean and comfortable - nice furniture and new carpeting. Plenty of room for us and our 4 kids, but may have been a little crowded with 8 or more if you get a couple days of rain. Two TV's with movies and video games to kept the kids happy in the evenings and on rainy days - we didn't hear "I'm bored" once. The nearby nature trails allowed the older kids freedom to explore and have some time to themselves. The house had everything we needed - beach toys for the younger kids, kitchen utensils and flatware, lawn chairs, and two refrigerators eliminated the need for repeated trips to the store. It's obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into making sure we had everything - right down to the beach towels and the spare LP tank for the grill. The location was perfect - 15 minutes to either Charlevoix or Boyne City, and perfect distance for a day trip to Mackinac Island or Traverse city. The lake is big enough that we didn't hear the constant droning of jet-ski's typical of smaller lakes. If you have one, definitely bring your boat! Shoppers' docks at Charlevoix, and public slips at Boyne City allowed us to do most everything we needed to do from the water, without the need to deal with peak season traffic and parking. Plus so many other things to see and do on the boat - Lake Michigan, Oyster Bay, waterfront dining, sunsets - you can spend the entire week on the water. The neighbors were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. On our day of departure we had to pack up and hurry off ahead of an approaching storm, so we never had a chance to thank them, but they truly made the difference."

  • Up North Meets "Urban" Fun

"As two couples traveling together without our kids, this townhouse really appealed to us. Physically, it's very nice. What we also loved its location in downtown Charlevoix, within footsteps of restaurants and "nightlife." We loved the Tap Room next door (great acoustic guitar on Sunday night) for craft beers and casual dinner, or Quay across the street for a more refined dinner (try the mushroom salad and the whitefish provencal--both incredible!), or the bakery right across the street for home-baked goods and good coffee in the morning. The townhouse itself has a nice big deck and gas grill for dinner at home. In addition to Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix itself is close to lots of great lakes for boaters (Torch Lake is a must--it's beautiful!), and less than an hour from Traverse City/Old Mission Peninsula wine country. Two golf courses very close by; Charlevoix more moderate while Belvedere challenging. We managed to do all of it in a week. Because you're so close to shops and restaurants, there's a good buzz of activity all around, loading and shipping happening in the back parking lot, etc. (This does not mar the gorgeous view from the deck.) If you're looking for absence of activity on a deserted lake, look elsewhere. If you like the feeling of being "downtown" (as downtown as Charlevoix can be for a town of less than 3,000 people) while also being immersed in the wonderful Up North culture with beautiful views and high-end accommodations, I would recommend. We hope to return next year!"

  • Great Stay!

"My wife and I stayed at Abide to celebrate the last 10 years of marriage and couldn't have picked a better place. This cottage has history, charm, and is perfect for a couple that wants to enjoy time away. Charlevoix is an amazing location! We fell in love with this town and all it has to offer. We loved everything about our stay and the people in Charlevoix. The cottage is in a great location, close to Lake Michigan, downtown, and can walk everywhere."
