  • Beautiful home and location

"My husband and I, together with our son, daughter in law and their almost two year old twins just returned from a near perfect vacation at Lake Charlevoix. (The only thing that was imperfect was a few days of weather.) The home is more beautifull and spacious than depicted in the photos. The open floor plan was comfortable and worked perfectly for us. The house and yard (including deck) were clean and well-maintained. We (and the kids) were delighted with the assortment of sand toys and the swing/slide set. The kitchen was very well-stocked with utensils, cooking tools, etc. The grill and hot tub were an added plus. (Our only "complaint" is that there could have been more towels--both bath and beach. To make matters worse, we left 3 towels on the boat we rented right before we left. I suspect that we may not the only ones to contribute to a towel shortage, of which the owners may not have been aware. We reported our "loss" to them.) The location was ideal--only a few minutes from downtown Charlevoix and a reasonable drive (maybe 20 minutes) from Petoskey. Highly recommend the house and the owners, who made the whole transaction simple and pleasant."

  • Up North Meets "Urban" Fun

"As two couples traveling together without our kids, this townhouse really appealed to us. Physically, it's very nice. What we also loved its location in downtown Charlevoix, within footsteps of restaurants and "nightlife." We loved the Tap Room next door (great acoustic guitar on Sunday night) for craft beers and casual dinner, or Quay across the street for a more refined dinner (try the mushroom salad and the whitefish provencal--both incredible!), or the bakery right across the street for home-baked goods and good coffee in the morning. The townhouse itself has a nice big deck and gas grill for dinner at home. In addition to Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix itself is close to lots of great lakes for boaters (Torch Lake is a must--it's beautiful!), and less than an hour from Traverse City/Old Mission Peninsula wine country. Two golf courses very close by; Charlevoix more moderate while Belvedere challenging. We managed to do all of it in a week. Because you're so close to shops and restaurants, there's a good buzz of activity all around, loading and shipping happening in the back parking lot, etc. (This does not mar the gorgeous view from the deck.) If you're looking for absence of activity on a deserted lake, look elsewhere. If you like the feeling of being "downtown" (as downtown as Charlevoix can be for a town of less than 3,000 people) while also being immersed in the wonderful Up North culture with beautiful views and high-end accommodations, I would recommend. We hope to return next year!"

  • Relaxing fall weekend away.

"My husband and I had a wonderful three night stay in this cabin this fall, (2014). It is close to Lake Michigan - in fact if you stay in the bedroom facing the lake, and don't close the blinds, that is what you wake up to in the morning - a view of Lake Michigan! We brought our lab, Cecelia, and she loved it. We went for walks down the beach with her several times. Though the cabin is old, it is nicely kept, and has everything you need. In the evenings, my husband and I would sit out on the screened porch and watch the sunset while Celia nosed around in the little plot of trees near the cabin, and in the sand. As most of us Michiganders know…there is no place like Lake Michigan! We only used the main floor of the cabin but there is also a large area upstairs with beds. This would be a fun cabin for a family vacation as well. And you're not far from Charlevoix or Petoskey here. We came here to relax so we were not looking for activities in town, but we know if we'd wanted to eat out or go to different events, that they were available to us. We came here for the view and time away together. The view was fantastic and the time away was peaceful and fun."
