"This place was incredible! Sometimes it seemed small from the pictures but it was literally the perfect size. I went up there with my wife and 3 other couples friends and everyone loved it. It's everything we wanted out of a cottage house and it's only a few hundred feet away from the beach! The grill was legit and they even have a little room in the backyard for kids to play around.
As for the location, it could not have been any better. We were a half mile from downtown Suttons Bay and the beaches allow you to bring any food/beverage you like! If you go, I would recommend doing the bike winery/brewery tour. If you're into sports, there's a tennis court and a basketball court right behind the heart of downtown.
Great city, great house, great fun!"

"My husband and I, our sons and their friends just spent the best week ever at this amazing vacation rental! The home is hand build and absolutely lovely, with beautiful hardwood floors and so many unique touches that I noticed something new every day. The living/dining area is spacious and comfortable for 8 adults to gather, but with three floors of living space it was easy to break away for some quiet time also.
And the grounds!! The owner describes it in the listing as "a state park without all the people" and that's a perfect description. There are so many groomed trails for hiking--my dog was in heaven. The beach is just a short walk down a beautiful wooded trail. There is a long dock, comfortable chairs for viewing the sunset over the lake, and a campfire/ picnic table area by the lake. There are also 2 small "camping cabins" with cots if you choose to sleep down by the lake. I brought lots of bug spray but we never needed it. We brought our own kayaks but there is also a rowboat and canoe at the water's edge ready to launch.
If you love the outdoors you will love this spot. We usually gathered together for a big breakfast, split up to explore during the day, then met at dinnertime to grill out and watch the sunset. The beautiful Leelanau Trail is less than a mile away and is a shady, level trail for walking, running and biking. It leads to breweries and wineries in either direction (7 miles to Traverse City, 11 miles to Suttons Bay). We golfed, went to the Sand Dunes, kayaked. biked, hiked, and definitely slept well each night! There are so many things to do it was really hard to choose how to spend the day--outdoor activities won out for us on this trip but maybe next time we will explore another side of the area.
There is one review of this property that was pretty negative, especially concerning the kitchen supplies and appliances. Not sure she stayed at the same place we did! Since our family likes to cook and we had a large group, I brought some kitchen items from home that I thought we would need. Never opened the box! There are many great restaurants in the area but we found it more relaxing to eat dinner at home in this beautiful setting, and we had everything we needed to enjoy some delicious meals.
The owner stopped by briefly during our stay to supervise a minor repair and we enjoyed chatting with her and learning the history of this amazing property. Thank you , Kate. We would love to return next year."

"My husband and I just returned home from our vacation today, and we very much enjoyed this house. I am very fussy when it comes to walking into a clean house and this house was just that. You could smell the cleanliness. They even added a vase of freshly picked flowers to welcome us. The natural light from all the windows was fabulous, and we even watched a raccoon enjoying the sweet cherries on several different occasions from the living room. The living room also had very comfortable furniture, which was a big bonus. We were sad to leave the area, where this house was in a nice location to travel to Sutton's Bay to enjoy the small shops, Traverse City to shop and enjoy Tandem Ciders, and Cedar to eat at the Sol Taco Stand. The owners were readily available when we noticed that cable cords were missing from the DVD player and brought us a set almost immediately. They were VERY easy to work with and that is also a great bonus.
The only reason we didn't give this an excellent review, wished there was a VERY GOOD button, was because the house was on the corner of M22 and another pretty well traveled road. The traffic was almost a constant. When the traffic wasn't there, the birds were chirping and it was a total relaxation moment.
We would not hesitate to come back, even knowing the noise of the cars. The house had lots of character and it was neat to hear that the owner grew up in the house."

"The place was excellent. It was well decorated and had everything we needed. Proximity to water and downtown was a definite plus. Paul and Val were very easy to work with and adding a extra night to our stay was no problem. Internet and a second floor bathroom would have been nice, but not a deal breaker."
