  • Perfect Northern Michigan getaway

"This condo is beautiful - it was absolutely perfect for us to stay for our honeymoon. The location can't be beat - 10 miles from Petoskey, 10 from Harbor Springs, and 35 from Mackinaw. The updates are gorgeous - this place was exactly as pictured. We had the best time staying here and would book again in the future! Can't even imagine how great it is in the summer when you can swim in Crooked Lake - the shore is 20 feet from the back door!"

  • Just Perfect!

"My group and I were beyond pleased with our stay. GREAT location and everything we needed. I spent the week there and was so relaxed. Very clean and comfortable. Location was amazing- walkable distance to the market and many yummy places to eat. During the weekend Friends came up to attend a wedding that we could also walk to. Would love to book again- Northport is very special. The hosts were very friendly and the owners were always available."

  • Beautiful Property with Nice Home and Lots of Amenities

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boardman Retreat. The property is beautiful and expansive; the river and woods are breathtaking while the rest of the property has well-maintained lawns, pretty flowers and plenty of room to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The home itself is very clean, roomy and has many amenities such as a large, flat screen TV, Wii for the kids, comfortable beds, newer towels and bedding and ample seating and kitchen. Some of the issues we have had with other MI properties we rented such as inadequate bathrooms, lack of cleanliness, slow drains or not enough towels are not the case at the Boardman. The bathrooms are clean, have great water pressure and the showers drain well while the dining area and family room had plenty of seating for our family. The kitchen has a dishwasher, double sink, plenty of utensils and place settings and all that you would expect from a premium property. We especially enjoyed eating most of our meals on the large deck off the kitchen that has plenty of seating and large shade umbrellas to get out of the sun when we wanted. We took full use of the hot tub off the master bedroom as well. We spent time each evening in the screened in porch and had coffee each morning on the banks of the river. The feeling of seclusion was invigorating and wonderful and a needed change from our big city living. We would not have considered this property if it was not pet-friendly and our 25 lb., Shih Tzu miz loved the property as much as we did! Overall, we would definitely consider the Boardman Retreat for our next visit to Traverse City and would highly recommend this lovely property for those looking to get away."

  • Really nice family compound

"My whole extended family went up to Michigan earlier this summer for the first family trip in years. This was a very big deal. There are some members of the family with very "specific" demands and needs (read;high maintenance). As the leader of this fine group, I was tasked with finding accommodations that would be suitable for all of us. Our group included 2 families with kids ages 5-13, 2 grandparents, another young family with a 3 month old and a hipster bachelor! No easy task! However, this property fit the bill perfectly. Thomas and Pat were super easy to work with, answering all of my ridiculous questions. They were just finishing the opening of the property when we got there, so we ended up with a super tour. The original older house was perfect for the grands and the younger family. The kitchen was very nicely outfitted with everything we needed. One of my biggest pet peeves when renting is never having enough serving bowls.....this place had more than enough! The main bedroom/bathroom was swanky enough for those who like swanky. We ended up eating breakfast and dinner in that house every day. The other house is more of a typical rental-type house; open kitchen that is not quite as nice as the other, but certainly sufficient, 2 bedrooms on the smaller side but with excellent bedding and pillows, and a loft full of beds for the kids to sort out. The rec room provided a nice respite for anyone who may not want be in the thick of it with several bed options, as well. The location was also terrific. It is very close to town, nice bike ride or pretty determined walk (we drove, but it took about 5 minutes). The beach is fabulous, no algae or water plants at all, no rocks, nice and shallow for plenty of kid fun! We used the kayaks a lot, rented several SUP's, of course had a boat and tube, used the fire pit, etc. There are also beautiful planters that are self watering all around the houses and decking, a very nice touch that puts this place a notch above the rest. As an added bonus, the owners even leave directions out of the area-which saved us from massive confusion trying to reverse our inbound directions. My only complaint was the mosquitos and the temperature being a bit bracing. Bring your parkas and bug spray and stay here."
