"We have found the perfect vacation home! Traveling Up North to Michigan has been a family tradition. It started with my dad spending the summers in Frankfort; he brought us kids each year and I have continued pace with my own family. We have stayed in various cottages/lakehouses, but this lodge is a dream come true! It is the perfect size for my growing family. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable each has its own personality. The kitchen is updated and has every amenity. We loved the private beach with the fire pit for bonfires! I loved that it was an easy distance from both Beulah and Frankfort. Mary has put so much of herself into this treasure; it definitely felt like a home away from home. My family and I hated to leave. We have already reserved it again for next year!! Thank you so much for sharing your home Mary! You made us feel so welcome :)"

"This home is absolutely perfect for a family vacation. We spent one week here and loved every minute of it. The home is comfortable, charming and includes everything you need for everyday life. As soon as I walked in I immediately felt "at home"...like walking into Grandmas house. We enjoyed the nearby beach, the library and all the shops and restaurants. Our adult kids loved walking to the brewery for drinks and night time entertainment. And we all had a lot of laughs and fun at Tucker's for bowling. All within an easy walk from the house. In the mornings we would walk to Barbs Bakery for cinammon twists. What more could we ask for? Well, the Farmers Market was fabulous and to top it off we saw Mario Batali ! We also did a side trip to the Sleeping Bear Dunes , the scenery is truly spectacular. I hope that we will be able to return to this home for many future vacations and would like to thank the owner, Marcia Boynton, for sharing her special place with others."

"We (two couples) had a wonderful time at Loon Lodge. The scenery is spectacular and the serenity of the lake and forest was just what we needed. We even had a loon on the lake in front of our cabin morning and evening. Nothing authenticates your north woods experience like the sounds of loons calling across the water. The weather turned cold and windy so we only got to eat dinner and enjoy s'mores on the dock one night. Other evenings we enjoyed the warmth and coziness of a fire in the fireplace. The cabin had all the comforts of home that we could ask for and was perfect for two couples:two roomy bedrooms, two bathrooms, and large central living room. Having wifi was great. TV reception was not great due, I think, to the rural and rustic nature of the area, which we enjoyed. Having TV is not very important to us, especially with wifi to keep informed. Traverse City is just a short jaunt away and there are a plethora of great restaurants and shopping there. Brunch at The Blue Heron or Patisserie Amie is is not to be missed. Pizza from That'sa Pizza is very good. And the cabin is just down the road from Moomer's Ice Cream! The autumn leaves were just starting to turn but it was still a pleasant, easy drive through lovely wine country with both the woods and the waters along Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas. Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is spectacular scenery as is Sleeping Bear Dune. Loon Lodge is a lovely cabin in a beautiful setting and a peaceful woodland experience. The kitchen is cozy but adequate for fixing full meals. The road back to the cabin is a little bumpy and narrow but it really verifies that you are leaving the hustle and bustle of city life behind. The lake is gorgeous and as soon as we drove up we fell in love with the cabin and setting. We hated to leave and hope to return as soon as we can. Tim provided lots of helpful information both before we got there and with the guest information. Tim also provided us with numbers to be used if needed but we did not need that. By all means, follow Tim's directions, not your GPS."

"Our first VRBO! My husband and I booked a peaceful weekend at this house and it was absolutely peaceful. The location has everything... rolling dunes with grass and moss, a beach with a point out into the lake, fire pit with firewood nearby, a sandy beach area with an umbrella if needed, a deck set back by the A frame with seating, seating on the grass facing the water, seating on the beach. A river with a walkover bridge being built while we were there. The owner has put a lot of thought and hard work in over the years. The one room A frame was just what we needed, but more than what we expected (marble floor, refinished wood walls, dimmers, direct TV, amazing shower with long lasting hot water).
We rode our bikes to the nearby historical church (which the owner had a hand in renovating) and around the bend to the Good Hart general store, had dinner at Leggs Inn, read books on the beach. The weather didn't cooperate while we were there but we enjoyed our time none the less.
The hosts were wonderful. We were intrigued by the history of the location and the homes on site as we took our tour of the property. We asked many questions that the host was so gracious to explain. Knowing the handmade history made us appreciate the smooth wood on the ceiling and boulder in the mortar foundation.
For our first VRBO, we had a great experience and we will be back!"
