  • Had a great long weekend

"A total of six of us rented this house for our annual fishing trip. Very secluded, which we like so we don't disturb the neighbors with out noisy fireside revelry. The lake itself was VERY quiet. We saw a few people on it the whole four days. It was fun paddling around in the rowboat looking for turtles and fishing. This lake has steep drops around much of the shoreline leading to good fishing spots. Lots of panfish right off the dock. You can catch as many as you want, though they're small. Five beds plus a fold out couch...not bad at all. They have some sweet elk heads n the walls and a bear in the basement. If dead animals freak you out, don't go here. Gas stove, which we liked for frying up the fish we caught over on Big Bass lake. There is a good bait shop run by a nice Amish fellow near Big Bass lake that has many types of minnows. The property manager of this place also rented us a pontoon boat on big bass lake."

  • A Lovely Paradise

"The two of us, and our two dogs, enjoyed our stay so much...our only problem was that we should have stayed longer. The farmhouse is just wonderful...so well-kept and with everything anyone could possibly need. We were greeted with a vase of Michigan wildflowers on the dining room table and the breeze from the lake came into the open windows. I loved it! The lake itself is ideal for swimming, boating and fishing, and the hike down to the lake, plus the swim out to the floating raft, were some wonderful fitness tools for my sixty-year old body. I have not felt this relaxed for decades! The whole nearby area is a vacation paradise, too, with lanes to walk down that were strewn with plants and wildflowers, and even deer at dusk. The Irons Cafe has the best homemade sauerkraut soup I've ever had anywhere, and the store in nearby Dublin is a place you can find anything and everything. The Sweet Fern Emporium is a wonderful place to buy pretty handmade gifts. All in all, I enjoyed this more than I can say and can't thank the managers enough for their kindness in helping to find our crazy dogs when they ran off for a bit. This was an absolutely wonderful vacation!"

  • Wonderful family vacation spot

"This was our second stay at Harper Lake, we stayed last Labor Day weekend, and loved it so much, it was our family choice to spend our vacation there this summer. The whole family really enjoyed being there, we did some fishing, sat by the campfire, played a lot of games on the deck overlooking the lake-we also rented a pontoon for the day on Tippy Dam pond, we tubed the Pine river for a day as well, there is plenty to do. The cottage itself is very comfortable and roomy enough-we had 6, and there was room for everyone without using the foldout couch. Everything is well taken care of, and the owners are great! When we go north we will definitely stay again! Thanks Roger and Kathy!"
