  • Up North Meets "Urban" Fun

"As two couples traveling together without our kids, this townhouse really appealed to us. Physically, it's very nice. What we also loved its location in downtown Charlevoix, within footsteps of restaurants and "nightlife." We loved the Tap Room next door (great acoustic guitar on Sunday night) for craft beers and casual dinner, or Quay across the street for a more refined dinner (try the mushroom salad and the whitefish provencal--both incredible!), or the bakery right across the street for home-baked goods and good coffee in the morning. The townhouse itself has a nice big deck and gas grill for dinner at home. In addition to Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix itself is close to lots of great lakes for boaters (Torch Lake is a must--it's beautiful!), and less than an hour from Traverse City/Old Mission Peninsula wine country. Two golf courses very close by; Charlevoix more moderate while Belvedere challenging. We managed to do all of it in a week. Because you're so close to shops and restaurants, there's a good buzz of activity all around, loading and shipping happening in the back parking lot, etc. (This does not mar the gorgeous view from the deck.) If you're looking for absence of activity on a deserted lake, look elsewhere. If you like the feeling of being "downtown" (as downtown as Charlevoix can be for a town of less than 3,000 people) while also being immersed in the wonderful Up North culture with beautiful views and high-end accommodations, I would recommend. We hope to return next year!"

  • Wonderful vacation destination

"My family of four (kids 7 and 9) had a wonderful time at the Bass Lake Lodge. We have vacationed in Traverse City many times but the first time on Bass Lake. The location is great! We found the cottage exceptionally clean and comfortable and stocked with everything you would need to feel at home, and then some! My son (9) caught 7 fish in the lake. The lake was very quiet. Not really a sandy bottom for swimming but throw some water shoes on and the kids did okay. Great value for what you get!! We hope to return some day."

  • Decorator's paradise

"If you are looking for a lovely retreat in Harbor Springs this is the place! My family and close friends rented the condo for a week in August and it was spectacular. The condo is decorated perfectly and the view is amazing. It is located on the ground level which allowed our son's to walk outside and throw the football and play in front of a gorgeous view of the water. The pool and tennis courts were clean and in mint condition. The hiking trails were also beautiful. This does not feel like a rental condo. The space has been beautifully furnished and decorated which is what I look for when vacationing. I look forward to returning in the winter because it is so peaceful. Harbor Springs is minutes away where one can find great restaurants and shopping.Golfing was the primary reason for vacationing in Harbor Springs. There are excellent courses to be found everywhere. I should know...my husband has a four handicap! I highly recommend this condo. The owner is wonderful and so accommodating. We will definitely be returning!"

  • Cottage is a gem

"The “cottage” is a gem in the North. It has everything you need – turn the key and you can stay for a week or a month – everything is there and it is all first class- but very affordable for the area. My wife and I arrived on September 27th and stayed a week just after the end of the “summer season” in Harbor Springs, less the crowds, great fall color and a few days still in the 70’s made for a fantastic relaxing vacation. The cottage overlooks Lake Michigan and is right on the beach. Five stone steps down to a great deck and then another 4 steps down to the beach – fantastic views and sunsets. The beautiful stone fireplace was put to use a couple times and it really gives the cottage a warm comfy feeling. It is less than 10 minutes to the center of Harbor Springs and a lot of great restaurants such as the “The Fish” out on State road. We are recommending “The Cottage” to friends and making plans to come back next season."
