"We came from Georgia for a surprise visit to family in the area. Both my parents worked at the hospital in the late 60's early 70's so we got the best tour imaginable. What a neat location for a rental, beautiful buildings, beautiful water, and downtown shopping all so close!! We loved it! Thank you so much for allowing us to share your home."

"We stayed at the High Lake Hideaway for a Bachelorette weekend, and it was perfect! We had a large group (14 women), and were very comfortable. The cottage was very clean, and nicely updated. Although our weekend was pretty cold and rainy, we had a great view of the lake. The owners were very easy to work with!
We wer only about a 15 minute drive from downtown Traverse City and wineries. I would recommend By The Bay Transportation, as they were able to accommodate our large group."

"My wife and I had a very enjoyable weekend stay, even in winter weather. Location on a bluff with a wide unobstructed view of the lake is fantastic. Enjoyed the views and sound of the waves from the sunroom, kitchen, family room, back yard, hot tub, etc.... With temps in the teens it was too cold to hit the beach, but the hot tub was nice and private. The sunroom made it up into the high 60s. When a late snow storm blew in, the crashing waves breaking up the icebergs were great. I've stayed in many rental homes over the years. This house definitely presents itself as a family's home, and not a typical vacation rental. This has pros and cons. The house could use larger bathrooms, updated TV, and a few repairs. The neighbor's house which shares the driveway is generally not visible from most rooms inside, so you get the sense of privacy, but it's definitely within earshot as we were treated to the pounding of a basketball game one afternoon (after all it was during March Madness). Overall it's a good value with great views and easy beach access. Will definitely consider returning with the whole family. Recommend stocking up on food before you arrive so you have no reason to leave. Not quite perfect, but definitely grades an A, so I'd give 4.5 stars if possible."

"We had a wonderful stay in the upstairs and downstairs units. The units were clean and VERY well stocked. We had our family of 5 (three teenage children) plus both sets of grandparents and brother in law. We had PLENTY of room for sleeping and relaxing. We have used VRBO units many times (Hawaii, Minnesota, Washington DC, etc.) -- I would say the main upstairs unit had the BEST assortment of cookware/dishes I have ever experienced. We have food allergies and some picky eaters so we usually prepare 95% of our meals at the condos where we stay - I was very pleasantly surprised by the cookware. Nothing crazy fancy, but just a very nice assortment of different cooking pieces and all in good shape.
Enjoyed working with the owners:
We had a small issue the first night we arrived - I sent an email to the owners and had a personal phone call within two hours to help solve the problem. (Turned out the problem was us, not the unit in any way.) I would highly recommend these units."
