  • Perfect Family Retreat

"Wow! What a place! Pure joy and excitement as soon as we pulled up! We were so impressed with the house I don't know where to start. First, the house is beautiful on the outside, absolutely magnificent gardens, pathways, fire pits, porches, etc. The inside is just as pretty. Huge, stone fireplace, kitchen with all the amenities, great loft above the garage, I could go on and on. The property was clean as a whistle and I absolutely want to live here forever! Our favorite spot was the front porch. The view of Lake Michigan is excellent. The back porch was great too, we just couldn't pass up looking at the lake, since you don't get a view like that everyday. I was up at 6 a.m. one day(6 month old) and saw a freighter go by with all it's lights on, in the pitch black, it was such a cool sight! My children enjoyed the green grass, fire pits, and basement rec room. The way the owners thought out the whole place is top notch. We can't wait to book a future trip!"

  • Family vacation

"This property was larger than we expected, with beautiful views! The beach was also very nice for kids, with a sandy bottom. Some of the other homes along the same road had marshy or rocky beaches, or had dune grass that went all the way to the water line last summer. The kayak and canoe were also very fun for us to use and paddle out on to the lake at night. We stayed the last week of June last, and unfortunately, had an unseasonably cold week, but we enjoyed going in to town to the Elk Lake beach, which was much warmer than Lake Michigan itself that time of year. My kids also enjoyed having the paved driveway to ride their scooters. One of the best things about this property were the beds- all of them were very comfortable with upscale linens. I would recommend this property to anyone and we will definitely consider visiting again."

  • Beautiful winter retreat

"My wife and I had stayed in Northport the previous year and said that we would come back. This time we brought friends and had a great time! Cross country skiing on the lake out back, 20 minutes from Traverse City and plenty of wonderful little stores to shop at in Suttons Bay. But the house was fantastic - there were five of us and it didn't feel cramped at all. We were so happy to come back to the house, get a fire going and play cards or watch Netflix (we brought an Apple TV). Everything was clean and you can tell the house has been recently remodeled in very "beachy" tones. We loved it so much, we started planning a trip back in the Summer time! I would consider this perfect for a large family or multiple small groups - highly recommend!"

  • Lake Michigan gem with gorgeous views

"We have been going to the Homestead since the mid-1980’s and have rented many different condos in various locations. The fact that we have rented this condo four times says it all. It is perfect. The first thing that strikes you when you enter is the breathtaking view of Lake Michigan through the wall of windows in the living and dining rooms. Then you notice how beautifully but comfortably the rooms are decorated. You feel as if you are in someone’s home. The kitchen is fully equipped and lacks for nothing. Everything is immaculate, clean and in good repair, including the washer and dryer. The owners really take pride in the appearance and condition of the condo. Clearly they want their guests to have a pleasant experience and they do whatever they can to ensure that. As lovely as the condo is, there is so much to do in the area that one does not spend much time there in the summer. The gorgeous white sand beach and Lake Michigan (no salt, no sharks) are perhaps 100 feet from the condo. The town of Glen Arbor is a short drive or a 15 minute walk. There one finds shops, restaurants, a grocery and hardware store, bike and kayak rental outfits and 4 well maintained public tennis courts. Two of our favorite activities are first, a leisurely float down the Crystal River in a kayak and second, a 15 mile ride on the new bike path that runs through the sand dunes and forests almost to the town of Empire. There is also lots to explore on the Leelanau Peninsula as well as in Traverse City, a 45 minute drive away. If you come to the Glen Arbor area you will no doubt have a wonderful time but if you stay in this gem of a condo it will be special."
