  • Fall Wedding Getaway

"Absolutely loved the house! It was extremely cozy, up to date and only five minutes away from Castle Farms where the wedding was. Downtown was right around the corner but the house provides plenty of privacy as well! We had seven people in our party and we all stayed comfortably. Nothing negative to say! We will be back :)"

  • Cozy, Quiet & Close to EVERYTHING!!!

"We loved our stay! This house is perfect for families who like to venture out into gorgeous small towns filled with cute shops and eateries during the day, but have privacy and peace around the campfire at night! The neighbor across the street is great at recommending places to eat! The ice cream shop on the corner has delicious pizza and snacks! It is a short drive to Alden and Bellaire. Alden has a free boat launch and parking for Torch Lake, two restaurants, and a park for the kiddos to play at while the moms shop! Highly recommend the Alden Bar and Grill, you can go in straight off the boat in a cover up! Wahooooo! Mrs. Pete's in Bellaire serves the best breakfast we've ever eaten and has great little shops, as well as Shorts Brewery! Warning Shorts only serves beer, no girly drinks! If you want to venture a bit further, head to Beautiful Charlevoix! About a 45 minute drive along Torch Lake to a gorgeous marina, shops, eateries, and draw bridge into Lake Michigan which the kids watched forever. Nice walk along the channel out to Lake Michigan where you can sink your toes into the sand and water. Only 25 minutes to Traverse City! You must, must, must spend a day at Clinch Park Beach! Rent kayaks and paddle through the downtown area....just amazing! Kayak rental is very reasonable and for those of you with little ones, it's almost impossible to tip one...very safe...but you have to do all the! The bike trail is fun, but a little tricky as you go through town because you HAVE to ride on the road in designated bike areas. There is a path between downtown Traverse City and Clinch Beach on Cass Street to walk or bike from one place to the other. Mr. C's has fabulous food and nightly entertainment from local singers. Definitely share a meal....way to much food! We have been to beaches in Lake Erie, Florida and North Carolina, and will never go back after being at West Traverse Bay and Torch Lake! The water is as clear as glass and there are no plants, mud or creatures in the swimming area! Life does not get any better than throwing anchor in 2 1/2 feet of water, and hoping out and floating while the kids swim off to deeper water or play catch. They threw a rock and raced to find it for and hour...A Rock....because it was the only thing we found on the bottom in a 100-150 foot radio us around our boat! Thank you so much for the best trip we have ever taken, Marc, Lisa, Jarid & Callie plus Marisa"

  • Quaint & Cozy

"My wife and I were very pleased with the location of the cottage. It is on a small lake, in the country, but not too far to reach the city. Most of the road is hard paved with the last 1/2 mile or so gravel with some dirt, although it is pretty hard pan. The cottage is on a lake next to other cabins, much like a fishing resort. During the week it is extremely quiet with weekenders arriving on Thursday and Fridays. The owners are very friendly and work hard to make sure your stay is welcoming and they succeed. The cottage has most everything you need, comfortable seating, luxurious bedding in the bedroom, and a nice kitchen area. And with lots of windows on the front of the cottage you can open the blinds and take in a beautiful site of Lake Nowland. In addition, if you care to open the windows you'll hear the occasional loon and other birds. It is so relaxing. The cottage is pretty clean when you arrive, however the microwave needed a bit of cleaning but it didn't take too long to get it cleaned up. There is an issue with rust in the water, and it makes getting cleaned up a bit tedious. We quickly found the bedsheets and pillows with rust on them. Soon it became apparent our clothing was stained also. I wouldn't let this deter you from experiencing this remote area, however I would recommend bringing dark clothes. For those of you who aren't from Michigan you are going to meet some fantastic people. Everybody is so friendly. Charlevoix had a concert on Thursday night an earlier in the week they had a movie in the park, next to the marina. This town is truly beautiful and you really do need to experience it if you like resort towns. The food was great when we chose to eat out and there is plenty to do."

  • Great place for large groups

"I was booking a trip for a group of incoming grad students (10 adults in total). It's not very easy to find a place that has 10 separate beds, so this place was unique in that regards. Location: Intermediate Lake, while very nice, is a bit of a hike to some of the big stuff people like to do in that area (Sleeping Bear, Silver Lakes, Traverse City, Mackinaw City, etc.). Note: this mainly had to do with the activities we selected. There are lots of things nearby (Shanty Creek, fruit picking, gas stations, supermarkets large and small, etc.). This did nothing to diminish from the comfort of the house, the amenities (kayaks, paddle boat, large rooms, large kitchen, comfortable bathrooms, large washing machine, HUGE water heater - never ran out of hot water, etc.). The property was in great condition, clean, and the pictures don't do the house justice. The lake was also very comfortable to be in regardless of the hour (I personally did morning kayak rides almost every day). The in law suite is also really nice as we had one couple with us, so that gave them some extra comfort to have their own room living quarters and bathroom. We did use both kitchens when preparing multiple dishes (we cooked A LOT during our week stay, probably 60-70% of our meals were home cooked). There was no shortage of cookware and a good amount of "bonus" stuff that was simply there for us to use (spices, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, etc.) The owner: Very responsive and prompt to questions, concerns, etc. Also was accommodating to a couple special requests, which helped our group out tremendously. Check in/Check out: very seamless and easy. The owner is very reasonable in the expectations for both which made the in and out easy for us to manage. All in all, I would gladly stay here again if I took another large group up north for a week."
