  • Perfect location for 3-generation getaway

"This was just right for our Labor Day family getaway "Up North" with six adults and two children ages 3 and 4. The house was spacious enough that we never felt like we were on top of each other, and I think that has a lot to do with the remodeling that the owner must have recently done -- I loved the separate dining space off the entrance, and the upper level is just stunning. There was a desk for those who needed to get some work done (unfortunately!). Our little ones loved the small bedroom off the upstairs, and the adjacent den was a great spot for them to watch movies and play yet still be close enough that the adults could hear all was well. The lake is "across the street," but we're talking about 15 steps and you're there. The kitchen is VERY well-equipped -- plenty of dishes and glasses for everyone without having to run the dishwasher constantly. The old stove worked SO great! One burner seemed a little less hot but hey, that's part of the charm. Everything was in working order, and the house is even nicer than the photos make it seem. The porch swing, or "swing chair" as my 3 year old called it, was a HUGE hit with the kids and adults. And the small fire pit/ring in the front yard was JUST perfect for s'mores after dinner. Like others have said in reviews, the location is grand as well -- away from the high prices of Traverse City but close enough that you can go to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas, etc., and not feel like you've been in the car the whole trip. There are two large, well-stocked grocery stores only a couple miles away, which made making meals at home convenient and easy. The only *slight* negative was the size of the bedrooms on the lower level, especially the one that uses the bathroom in the hallway, but after one night, we felt like it was just part of the cozy charm. We would stay again in a heartbeat."

  • Great location & setup

"This is in a perfect location in Glen Arbor. 2 min walk to lake or Art's Tavern and 5-7 minute walk to everything else you need in GA. The owners were very nice and everything was very clean. This place is perfect for a couple who stays active and also wants some privacy. We would go back in a heartbeat!"

  • Perfect!

"Ken's house is very ideal for a weekend getaway with friends (or family)! There were 8 of us who stayed here for a weekend of winter fun. His house is beautiful, very spacious, and has many extras to make your stay more enjoyable (heated floors in the bathroom, air hockey and ping pong..)!! The pictures do not do it justice! Ken is also very fast to respond when inquiring about anything, which makes planning and a booking a trip much easier! :)"

  • The pictures don't do it justice.

"Nice, comfortable and clean home in a quiet, convenient location. Has a big, wooded back yard with a grill and a fire pit. The kitchen is very well equipped and organized, the bathroom is clean, plenty of towels provided, and the bedrooms are cozy and clean as well. The house is not right on the water, but Platte Lake and Little Platte Lake are basically right there (close enough to carry the canoe from the house to the lake, which we did). And if you're looking to explore the area a bit, this house is in a nice, central location -- about 15 minutes from everything (drive north on M22 to Empire and Sleeping Bear Dunes, and south to Crystal Lake and Frankfort). Also, a beautiful Lake Michigan beach off Peterson Road is only a few miles away. Overall, it's a good deal and we would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Donna!"
