  • Cosy

"The pictures represented the interior of the cabin exactly. I guess that 4 could sleep there, but it would be awfully cramped. The bedroom is a little to small for the bed. That being said, it was very plush and comfy. The literature describing the cottage said that there would be a bottle of sparkling wine awaiting our arrival, there was none. We were very disappointed as it had been a long drive to get there and we were looking forward to it. I e-mailed the operators of the property and they sent a bottle over the next day. I will say that the pictures of the outside lead me to believe that the cottage faced the water, instead they faced the city park that the property buts up to. We weren't to happy about that either. We definitely had a bad first impression, however we grew to really like the place. we would definitely stay there again"

  • Suttons Bay in October

"The location to Suttons Bay is great. The house is a tri-level; the layout gives everyone room to move around. There are 5 bedrooms and plenty of beds and air mattresses. The bedrooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is big enough for several people to work in; the dining table easily seats 12. The living room is in the front of the house and has 2 wicker rockers and a 2-person wicker seat -- not really relaxing. To the owners: I would move the dining table to the front of the house (under the chandelier) and put living room furniture (sectionals) in the area adjoining the kitchen so that everyone can be seated comfortably and see the lake view and visit with people in the kitchen. There is a gas fireplace and it can really put out the heat. The beach is rocky so I'm not sure what swimming would be like in the summer. House needs updating -- paint/décor and showers. There are way too many baskets & "stuff" on the top of the cupboards and everywhere with a mixture of old-fashioned quilts (not my personal taste), old traditional paintings and just a bit of lake décor. The decks are very good for viewing the lake and the fall colors. There were instructions taped everywhere which was a bit annoying - did the owners have had a bad experience with a renter? The property met the needs of the 12 of us."

  • Perfect Retreat

"Perfect! Cozy! Clean and all you need. Lovely area and close to anything you might want to do on Leelanau Peninsula. We are particularly infatuated with Suttons Bay, so it was a great place to spend a week with our 4-legged "baby!""

  • A perfect getaway in a charming town

"Our stay was fantastic! Sutton's Bay is a nice change of pace from the bustling, often busy downtown Traverse City. My fiance, mother and I stayed here for a couple of nights and had a great time. We would definitely stay here again. The owners were very accommodating. They were the sweetest elderly pair that wanted us to know about everything we could do in the area. They also own a bed and breakfast next to the cottage in this listing that I would be interested in staying at as well. The food one of the owners was cooking for breakfast smelled amazing. We had asked for linens to be provided and we had so many! There was also a ton of extra blankets as this area can get cool at night in the summer. We also had a couple of special requests as we were in the area for a short time - we asked if we could book the cottage for 2 nights instead of a week and if we could have a late checkout on Thursday due to a work conference call that had to be attended on vacation - both of these requests were accommodated with a smile. The location was fantastic - a pub is 300 feet away, as well as, the rest of the Sutton's Bay Village. Even with all of the restaurants and shops nearby, it's still peaceful. The water is a short walk away and very visible from the cottage. The beach in front of the cottage has nice sand, volleyball courts and picnic tables. The property is also about a 10 min drive from some of the best wineries on the peninsula. We're getting married in May at Blackstar Farms Vineyard (10 min away) - I will make sure to recommend this cottage to our out of town guests."
