"Stayed at this cottage on Torch Lake and could not have been happier. Its really everything we were looking for when we think of a vacation up north. Calm, beautiful view (really nice large deck and dock with great seating to just relax) Nice fire pit and fireplace. On the west side for great views at evening. Kitchen very spacious and stocked with all the dishes we needed. Beds were as advertised and very comfy. I'm probably not doing it justice but it was just a lovely property and we would very gladly go back again. Owner was fantastic to work with as well - very reasonable and quick to reply to questions."

"Great spot! Everything you need for a week away is there, including WiFi, and in a beautiful old turn of the 20th century home. The photographs do not do it justice. You will be very pleased.
Quiet, private, great beach and lake bottom, and a pleasant and responsive owner and manager.
Our family of older adults, their children and spouses and grandchildren had lots of room to be together and to be apart.
Super close to Alden and Belle Aire, which are nice little towns to visit on a rainy day."

"This lovely home has served us extremely well for 25 years! We ladies counted last weekend - where do the years go? We women from different walks of life meet and enjoy the house once a year at our hosts invitation. We visit the town, lake, shops, restaurants, and area features we choose when we get there. Most of all, we enjoy reconnecting with each other. The peace and quiet of the area allow us to drop out of our busy lives for a short time to recharge our batteries."

"My husband and I just got back from another 2 weeks at Thayer (this was our 3rd year). Yes, 2 weeks. Our first year here, 10 days just wasn't enough...and honestly, 2 weeks isn't either. We are already thinking of coming back in the fall. This is our third year vacationing here. We love the quiet of the no wake lake, fishing is excellent (mostly bass and pan fish but almost guaranteed to catch a couple - even from the dock - every time you go out), close to things to do (this year we went zip lining in Boyne, last year Sleeping Bear Dunes), cute towns close by (Alden, Bellaire and Traverse City), there is also a Casino.... OR the best part is, you can just sit and gaze at the beauty of the lake, watch the wild life (the loons are really cool - we saw a bald eagle and osprey). If you really need some excitement Torch Lake is right next door.... The cabins are great - newly renovated - the screened in porch on the Oak is the best - brings back childhood memories of family vacations (when we went so distracted by tv, phones/texting and internet)... This is the place to unplug. Also note that the cabins have an natural climate control. They tend to stay cool in the heat and warm when cooler (though be sure to prepare for both extremes at any time of year - there is a small heater and fan but northern Michigan weather can be fickle... this year the coolest at night was about 44 - warmest in day about 80) and not to mention - Tim and Stephanie - they are great...Sum it up: The worse part about this entire experience - leaving."
