"We stayed here for a week in early August 2014. Overall, our experience was great. It was me, my wife, my 2 year old and a 10 lb dog. The cottage was clean and comfortable - but keep in mind - its a cottage. We brought a boat, which we planned on having on the mooring (which is in about 5 feet of water), but they allowed us to use the lift which was great. We spent a lot of time at the Sandbar, its a good 30 min ride @ 25 - 30 MPH. The lake bottom around the dock is rocks, so water shoes are a good idea. Our favorite part of the cottage, which is not shown in the photos, was the large side yard for our dog and 2 year old to run around. There is plenty of room for kids to play and the grass allowed them to be barefoot. The only downsides to this cottage were no dish washer, no access to the washing machine and the electric range was not the greatest.
Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this property (as long as you don't mind doing dishes)."

"We have stayed at Torch Lake before but this has been our best stay to date. This cottage is perfect location as well as filled with old family tradition. Our family had a great time at the beach, including a great game of water football in front of the cottage where you can walk out in the water for 2 football fields before it's over your head. The deck was a great place to watch the nightly sun set. We would and will recommend Birchwood Cottage."

"This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely cottage on Torch Lake. Its perfect for us as my mum has problems with stairs but this house has a down stairs bedroom and bathroom. The deck area is also great as minimal steps and very easy short walk to the lakes edge. The views from the deck are just lovely at all times of the day. I also like it that it is screened from the houses next door, so it feels very private. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. The owners are very helpful and friendly and responded fast when I had a question during our stay. All generations enjoyed the house, from my teenage sons to my nearly 80 year old parents. Thanks"

"Exceptional home. A rare find. I did feel like I was stepping into a issue of Better Homes and Gardens. Immaculate and you will find everything to make your vacation complete. This was my first time to Torch Lake and I am a Michigander. This cottage is in a great area to explore Michigan's finest. From The Dunes to Traverse City, Charlevoix Petoskey Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City. My favorite was boating on beautiful Torch Lake. It was nice to come back to a secluded quiet environment as this cottage. We enjoyed eating at The Torch Cafe. Enjoyed a lunch at the Dockside, which is a perfect place to dock or drive too. We enjoyed a campfire and had great evening walks. I liked the option of enjoying the air conditioning if it was a muggy day. Kim and Kevin are great!"
