  • Cozy, Quiet & Close to EVERYTHING!!!

"We loved our stay! This house is perfect for families who like to venture out into gorgeous small towns filled with cute shops and eateries during the day, but have privacy and peace around the campfire at night! The neighbor across the street is great at recommending places to eat! The ice cream shop on the corner has delicious pizza and snacks! It is a short drive to Alden and Bellaire. Alden has a free boat launch and parking for Torch Lake, two restaurants, and a park for the kiddos to play at while the moms shop! Highly recommend the Alden Bar and Grill, you can go in straight off the boat in a cover up! Wahooooo! Mrs. Pete's in Bellaire serves the best breakfast we've ever eaten and has great little shops, as well as Shorts Brewery! Warning Shorts only serves beer, no girly drinks! If you want to venture a bit further, head to Beautiful Charlevoix! About a 45 minute drive along Torch Lake to a gorgeous marina, shops, eateries, and draw bridge into Lake Michigan which the kids watched forever. Nice walk along the channel out to Lake Michigan where you can sink your toes into the sand and water. Only 25 minutes to Traverse City! You must, must, must spend a day at Clinch Park Beach! Rent kayaks and paddle through the downtown area....just amazing! Kayak rental is very reasonable and for those of you with little ones, it's almost impossible to tip one...very safe...but you have to do all the! The bike trail is fun, but a little tricky as you go through town because you HAVE to ride on the road in designated bike areas. There is a path between downtown Traverse City and Clinch Beach on Cass Street to walk or bike from one place to the other. Mr. C's has fabulous food and nightly entertainment from local singers. Definitely share a meal....way to much food! We have been to beaches in Lake Erie, Florida and North Carolina, and will never go back after being at West Traverse Bay and Torch Lake! The water is as clear as glass and there are no plants, mud or creatures in the swimming area! Life does not get any better than throwing anchor in 2 1/2 feet of water, and hoping out and floating while the kids swim off to deeper water or play catch. They threw a rock and raced to find it for and hour...A Rock....because it was the only thing we found on the bottom in a 100-150 foot radio us around our boat! Thank you so much for the best trip we have ever taken, Marc, Lisa, Jarid & Callie plus Marisa"

  • Back Again...!

"We're back for our second, two-week stay at the Alden House, and for good reason - it's wonderful! There are two criteria that make a vacation rental great - good owners and a good property. The Alden House meets and exceeds both! Rich and Karen are great owners who show a lot of respect for us just in the way they maintain the house and keep it current; they are most accommodating at meeting the special needs of our family - especially adding wi-fi this year! The house, the location, and the lake; we've been coming to Torch for more then 20 years and we feel like we've finally found our home away from home. Every review we've read is spot-on, the great thing about this place is you don't need to be on the water to have a great spot, great view of the lake, sunsets, and your only minutes from accessing the lake. Anyone looking for a great place in this area, with all of these amenities, great owners, and very affordable - here it is!"

  • Beautiful Home for a Family Getaway

"My three children, their spouses, my two granddaughters and I started a tradition of renting cottages on Torch Lake for an annual family getaway. This year we won the jackpot with this lovely, extremely clean, home. The home has such a cozy, cottage feel, yet has plenty of room to accommodate seven adults and 2 children. The sleeping quarters were very roomy and comfortable. The outside decking is fantastic with two levels. One area is protected from the weather elements with a roof and just one step down to another area is a dining table large enough to sit all of us for family meal time. We ate all of our lunch and dinner meals on the deck watching the boat traffic on the lake. My two granddaughters were swimming and collecting Petosky stones in the beautiful blue water every day. We loved our week so much we have already started the process of renting the home again next year. Carol, Brian (& Jenny), Laurie (& Todd), Amie (& Andy), Gemma (7), Esme (3)."

  • Charming, cozy retreat...

"We enjoyed our stay in this charmingly updated, comfortable cottage. The home is easily located, which was a nice feature when returning at night as we could readily locate the home near the intersection of a couple of roads. An extra-deep attached garage is nice for securing your vehicle and with room enough to open the lift-gate of our SUV we were conveniently able to unload our luggage in the closed garage. The home is spacious and well-appointed with a high-quality television including cable and a DVD player. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms provide plenty of space with a sizeable walk-in shower and convenient washer & dryer (we were especially pleased there was no rust in the water which is a common annoyance in some homes). A lovely dock directly across the street provided convenient access to the Rapid River, with our kayaks it was a short paddle to the crystal blue waters of Torch River leading into Torch Lake - a paddle that takes roughly 30 - 40 minutes. The hot tub was a wonderful relaxation after an invigorating day on the water. Overall we were impressed with the cleanliness and comforts of this charming cottage."
