  • Great Pet-Friendly Cottage

"We stayed here for a week in early August 2014. Overall, our experience was great. It was me, my wife, my 2 year old and a 10 lb dog. The cottage was clean and comfortable - but keep in mind - its a cottage. We brought a boat, which we planned on having on the mooring (which is in about 5 feet of water), but they allowed us to use the lift which was great. We spent a lot of time at the Sandbar, its a good 30 min ride @ 25 - 30 MPH. The lake bottom around the dock is rocks, so water shoes are a good idea. Our favorite part of the cottage, which is not shown in the photos, was the large side yard for our dog and 2 year old to run around. There is plenty of room for kids to play and the grass allowed them to be barefoot. The only downsides to this cottage were no dish washer, no access to the washing machine and the electric range was not the greatest. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this property (as long as you don't mind doing dishes)."

  • Unique ! Relaxing ! You wont be disappointed !!!!!

"Clean , comfortable , well equipped , charming , historical touches , sweeping view of the lake , beautiful yard and gardens ..... And to add , the owners are very accommodating and hospitable. The location keeps you in the center of Alden , to enjoy a leisurely walk thru the town , or enjoy the private back yard setting , dock , and view the lake. Alden is centrally located in general , to travel to other points of interest as well , and be back in enough time to take in a sunset on Torch , which are always second to none ."

  • Secluded cottage, beautifully decorated, great lake views

"This home is a true find. We were blown away when we walked inside and saw what was there, namely the open layout and view of the lake. The cottage is very color happy, perfectly put together, and stocked with everything you could want, right down to a relaxing CD collection and a gas fireplace. There is so much to do and see (sunrises, stars popping at night) and you don't have to go far. When we arrived, the late September weather was warm enough to allow for a few Torch Lake swims. We took those swims just down the road at a state-access point, where we had the beach to ourselves. Road biking from the cottage is very good, offering nice views and only a few cars. We also enjoyed a drive around Torch Lake, stopping in several towns, including Central Lake, Bellaire (Short's Brewery), and ending in Elk Rapids. Kim and Kevin were both very helpful and take great care of this property. Kim even alerted us to the warm fall weather forecast and encouraged us to make our drive early so we could enjoy it. I would suggest this home to anyone and would certainly come back again."

  • Great stay for our family!

"We had a great time at the beautiful cabin just minutes from Torch Lake. We have a rather large extended family and we all fit very comfortably. The only complaint we had was that the downstairs toilet did not refill on it's own so we kept pitchers of water next to the toilet. The owner tried to get a plumber out but that didn't happen. The house was clean and inviting and the views were absolutely breath taking. My one suggestion would be to get better sheets and blankets on the beds to be more hotel like. I know I look forward to that and it was kind of missing in the cabin. All in all, we had a great stay and will probably be back again with our extended family next summer!"
