  • Perfect vacation!

"This was the perfect place for a great family vacation! We had two adults and four college aged children/guests. The home is more inviting and stunning than even the listed pictures which is truly saying something! The lake frontage is beyond breathtaking whether it was morning coffee on the deck off the master bedroom, or wine on the dock for sunsets, or late nights by the fire pit as you are never too old for roasted marshmallows. The home is fully stocked and equipped for all your needs whether it is indoor cooking, outdoor grilling, wifi or simply sharing a late night movie. The home is in a great location, plenty of privacy yet just 10 minute drive from both Suttons Bay and downtown Leland for dinner or shopping options. A little further but still easy trips were 30 minutes to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. All of which are great options to take advantage of should you have gotten a little too much sun or as a rainy day option. The water frontage was very sandy all around the dock area. If you were entering the water directly from the yard it is a little rocky and some may prefer water shoes. This was our first experience with VRBO and I have to say we hit the jackpot! The owners were very welcoming, informative, and professional to deal with and the property was everything we had hoped for and more. It was a fabulous week for our family and we would definitely return! Thanks so much for sharing your home."

  • Lovely place!

"Very clean cabin with lots of room for our young boys to play basketball, ride bikes, play baseball and walk the trails connected to property. We enjoyed the area during the day and loved coming back to the cabin at night to unwind."

  • Awesome Summer Retreat!

"We have rented lake houses for many years in different states and this was by far one of our favorites. Beautiful home inside and well maintained. Very clean. We had everything we needed, except for a third bedroom fan. Kitchen very well stocked (I do a lot of cooking and baking even on vacation). The kayaks and canoe were a plus since we didn't take a boat. Huge yard for outdoor games. Lots of outdoor seating. Fire pit was nice. Lots to do in that area within 20-30 minutes. Wineries, little shops... Personally we were content hanging out at the lake. We had 3 of our kids all in their 20's who enjoyed themselves as well. We would definitely recommend to others and plan to go back. Diana was available to answer questions and make recommendations prior to our trip. Pizza from Dick's Pour House was awesome! The kids complained about not being able to jump off the pier because it was too shallow, but the water was nice. I had a difficult time relaxing for the first few days because I attracted way too many spiders that kept crawling on me. Very isolated, woodsy area, and right on the water. We had an awesome vacation!"

  • Excellent Vacation House

"The house was exactly what we expected from the description! There were nine of us in the house and we had plenty of space. The property was beautiful! A great deck, fire pit, beach and dock. We didn't spend much time in the lake as it was still pretty cold. The neighbors were very helpful. We enjoyed listening to the loons and frequent visits from a duck family. There were many more amenities there than we expected. Beach toys, outdoor chairs, beach towels, cleaning supplies, a very well stocks kitchen (including a keurig). Anything I thought to bring the house already had! We loved the location. Not far from Traverse City, lighthouses, Lake Michigan the Dunes and really close to Monomers! The owners were great to work with. We loved our time here and hope to come back."

Enjoy Outdoor Explorations in Northwest Michigan

Northwest Michigan lake houses located on the lake shore have the convenience of being close to many recreation facilities. If you don't have your own boat, there are many rental companies that you can hire one from. Kayaks are also available and a great way to explore the lake shores. Fishing tackle shops can be found in abundance and in season, you could even enter a fishing competition and see if you can land the "big one." There are many hiking trails, mountain biking trails and horse riding trails that can be explored independently or with a guide. Trails through the state forests provide an opportunity to watch birds and wildlife along the way. There are picnic sites and special nature reserves that are interesting to visit. Winter Snow at Northwest Michigan Vacation Rentals

In the winter months, much of the area is blanketed with snow. Many of the trails that you hiked and cycled in the summertime become cross country ski routes through the forests. There are literally miles of trails through various preserves ranging in difficulty from beginner to more advanced. Many areas also have trails for snowshoeing and routes for snowmobiling. One of the most impressive trails is the 88-mile route between Cadillac and Belmont. The majority of the trail runs through the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park over varying terrain and is a challenging run. The town of Gaylord is well-known for its Olympic quality ski runs. Dog sledding is another popular pastime and commercial tours can be booked through local resorts.

Farm Delights at Northwest Michigan Lodging
