  • nice house in great location

"Great location close to town and the park. Communication with Nicky to set up the rental agreement and organize arrival/departure was excellent. The house is clean and functional. We look forward to renting again!"

  • Darling place, Awesome views, Great area

"Two Gal Friends enjoying our Northern Michigan and all it has to offer was made so much nicer staying at this easy to find, great location, darling as could be and so cozy Strawberry Hill. Loved my sweet twin bed! Cindy, the owner, was a great welcomer along with great suggestions of fine places to eat. The pictures are a true representation of the place...but it is actually nicer than they show. Not saying it would not be an awesome romantic getaway. You would just have to manage the two twin bed scene."

  • Wonderful cottage!

"We had such a wonderful time at Maple Woods. We were surprised by the warm, "up north" look and feel. As it was a cool week in summer, we loved the gas fireplace but also the air-conditioned upstairs bedrooms. The cottage was clean, well-stocked and with clear instructions. Like others have said, we ended up staying at the cottage more than we expected-it was so warm and homey! The kids loved the lake and water toys, and fishing was fabulous. To top it off, the owners were simply wonderful to work with. It is obvious they love their home and love sharing it with others. The location is also great- minutes to Interlochen and not much farther to so many of northern Michigan's top sights/destinations. I imagine we will be back!"

  • Awesome location! Awesome House!

"If you are looking for the perfect vacation home, this is it. The convienent location is right across the street from a great beach and picnic area. Having a small grocery store almost next door was helpful. And the house had plenty of room for 5 kids and 6 adults. Having 3 bathrooms and central air for our 2 muggy days was priceless. Nice backyard for eating outside and campfires. The refrigerator is large enough to hold lots of food, and the water pressure is strong and no well water smell! Enough dishes for all of your guests. The kids loved the ping pong table downstairs and there are lots of different areas to hang out in. We used the kayaks every day. Long Lake is beautiful and we rented a boat one day and you can temporarily tie up at the dock on the beach. And having a washer and dryer is also a nice perk! Meijers and WalMart are just a short drive away. We were just a 20 minute drive from Lake Michigan and lots of tourist attractions. The owners are great to deal with and were quick to respond to our questions. You will have a great stay!"

Northwest Michigan lake houses located on the lake shore have the convenience of being close to many recreation facilities. If you don't have your own boat, there are many rental companies that you can hire one from. Kayaks are also available and a great way to explore the lake shores. Fishing tackle shops can be found in abundance and in season, you could even enter a fishing competition and see if you can land the "big one." There are many hiking trails, mountain biking trails and horse riding trails that can be explored independently or with a guide. Trails through the state forests provide an opportunity to watch birds and wildlife along the way. There are picnic sites and special nature reserves that are interesting to visit. One of the most impressive trails is the 88-mile route between Cadillac and Belmont. Dog sledding is another popular pastime and commercial tours can be booked through local resorts.
