  • Best Detroit Vacation Ever

"The week leading up to July 4th 2014. Thank you so much for renting your beautiful home to us for our summer vacation. The Detroit skyline is beautiful from your unit. The entire loft felt like home from the comfortable beds, entertaining in the kitchen, I love your shower, and chilling in the living room. It was good to see our hometown beginning to rise again. We're looking forward to returning soon."

  • Awesome Graduation Experience

"Perfect home away from home for extended family during graduation. Home is beautiful and well-equipped. Enjoyed preparing family dinners in the well appointed kitchen and sitting on the fabulous front porch. A pleasant walk to Ann Arbor and U of M activities."

  • Quaint Home-Away-From-Home

"A great place to stay! Came here with my parents, husband and our 1 year old! Roomy, air-conditioned, had a pack-n-play and highchair for our little one - AWESOME! The beds were super comfortable, and was nice to have fans in every room. You definitely feel like you're out in the country, but you're close to all Ann Arbor has to offer. Good location. Ravi was great at familiarizing us over the phone with everything in the home, easy to work with and readily available for any questions. Hopefully we have a reason to come back again soon!"

Southeast Travel Tips

Overlooking Canada With Southeast Michigan Vacation Rentals

When one speaks of southeast Michigan, you may conjure up Detroit in your mind. The home of the largest auto companies is what one associates most often with the southeast region but it is much more than a huge city. Southeast Michigan sits on the lower peninsula of the state with a high concentration of tourism on the Lake Erie coast. For those interested in traveling to a pretty part of Michigan State, there are a number of southeast Michigan vacation rentals. These rentals are spread throughout several little coastal towns, just minutes from the Canadian border.

Locations Near Southeast Michigan Lake Houses

Southeast Michigan Lake houses can be found in over 15 towns and cities of the region. Southeast Michigan is made up of Ann Arbor, Brighton, Brooklyn, Chelsea, Detroit, Hillsdale, Holly, Howell, and Jackson. Lansing, Milford, Pickney, Pleasant Lake, Reading, Round Lake, Walled Lake, Waterford, West Bloomfield, and Whitmore Lake are also considered part of the southeast region of Michigan. Any one of these cities or towns will have attractions for an enjoyable holiday, though some have more than others. For example, Ann Arbor is definitely a college town with nightlife, attractions, and entertainment for all ages. Waterford is a different type of city with less population and more focused on nature and conservation.

Southeast Michigan Cottages Along the Lake Coast

If you want to find some quaint little southeast Michigan cottages, you will need to find some of the towns along Lake Erie’s border. Monroe is one of the larger cities on the coast with Luna Pier, Temperance, Erie, Estral Beach, and Newport as a few of the other stops. From any of these stops, you can move up the coast towards Highway 3 which takes you into Canada. You can also choose a more secluded location with Whitmore Lake. Whitmore is inland of Detroit near Ann Arbor. Instead of a Great Lake, you have a smaller lake with forest land and recreational nature parks.

Parks and Museums of Southeast Michigan

In almost every city you visit in southeast Michigan, you will find some parks, museums, or other attractions to keep the entire family occupied. Chelsea is just one of the locations near southeast Michigan vacation rentals where you will find a plethora of attractions. You might start with the Purple Rose Theater or Chelsea Historical Museum before moving on to Jiffy Mix. Jiffy Mix is actually the Chelsea Milling Company but many recognize it by the brand name. During your stay, the Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center and Waterloo Farm Museum might also be on your stop. Southeast Michigan is known for its farmers’ markets where it is possible to get fresh produce, meats, and other products to cook at your southeast Michigan cottages. Even if you are not going to buy something, they are a sight to behold on your sightseeing outings.

'"Gaining Ground in Southeast Michigan"'

We have discussed numerous locations in southeast Michigan you might enjoy visiting but getting there is something you will require knowledge about. Detroit is obviously the largest city which means you will want to fly into their airport and rent a car to traipse around southeast Michigan. It is possible to rent a few southeast Michigan lake houses if you want to see more than one area. You could start by going south along the coast on Interstate 75 or head out on Interstate 94 to go west towards Ann Arbor. If you elect to drive, 75 is your best highway to get you into the northern state from Illinois, while Interstate 94 can bring you in from the western side of the U.S. to southeast Michigan. It is fairly easy to drive around Michigan with your own vehicle, especially a motor home. Michigan, especially in the southeast, can be a haven for budget vacations in beautiful lakeside cabins. The recreation, restaurants, and other fun available make it even more exciting.
