"My wife and I had the Friday before Memorial Day off and we decided that it would be nice to getaway with our kids. I had the great fortune of finding this place. It was only an hour and a half away from our house, but you get that great "up-north feel". Doug and Lisa are great hosts. I can't stress that enough. You can rent from anyone, but it's the hosts that care about your happiness while staying at their cottage that make great experiences. It seemed that their only concern was that my family had a great time.
My kids (5 & 7) loved the loft. They called it their secret hideout and had a blast up there. They brought all there toys up there and watched movies at night before going to bed. Also, my littlest one had no problem going up and down the ladder.
We were blessed with great weather (for late May in Michigan) and used Doug's canoe a lot. We packed up the canoe one day with blankets, food, toys, and water for a little picnic at the park directly across the lake from the cottage. It's a short trip and well worth it. There are swings, a playscape, picnic tables, and a great sandy swim area. Highly recommend the park, but be wary of goose poop because it's everywhere.
The cottage was stocked with everything we needed (minus food of course) and we had plenty of firewood for the nights. I used their gas Weber twice a day while there and had plenty of propane. Doug even had a backup for me just in case. I would also like to add that everyone in the neighborhood was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here. We loved our time there and we will definitely return."

"I had this propertybooked for a getaway with my 80 year old mother and three sisters. 14 days before our trip, my father had surgery. There were complications which meant we had to cancel our trip. Ann,, the property manager, was very compassionate and went out of her way to help us. She refunded all of our money, and was able to fill the apartment with another renter. The owners of this property are really good people, and can be trusted. I hope that in the future we can rent this apartment and have our time together."

"Yes, it was a beautiful view of the lake, saw a Great Blue Heron out on the dock. Brent & Mary were very friendly & accommodating. A must see would be the Hidden Lake Gardens, we went on the driving trail through the trees and around the courtyard grounds, unique scarecrows were all along the trail. Cherry Creek Winery was also a 'must see'. Drove by the Buffalo Ranch on Roundtree Road, west of where we were staying, saw a few Buffalo on the property enclosed by a fence, (not like they were 'roaming free' in Wyoming). Bone Island Grille is a good restaurant, good burgers and a tasty Wet Burrito, Artesian Wells is another good restaurant, displaying a variety of motorcycles. Beautiful rolling green hills, felt like we were 'up-north' but we were 'down south'. Good possibility that we will return in the future."
