  • Unforgettable Weekend

"I made reservations for a weekend stay at the Palmer House as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. Needless, to say the weekend was a perfect gift for both of us! We spent an unforgettable weekend of; living, entertaining, and breathing in- this awe inspiring home, that was the designed by FLW, and built with love by the Palmer's. Words can not do justice to this "house beautiful". We truly were overwhelmed by the level of detail, originality, and beauty throughout the house, and the grounds are just as beautiful. Many thanks to the Sue and Gary for their welcoming hospitality (enjoyed your sharing a few anecdotes of Palmer's life in their Wright house), and for allowing us to spend time immersed in history. As a side note: For out of town guests, this home is a very short drive to downtown Ann Arbor- full of great restaurants, shopping and very close to Nichols Arboretum- please find time to make a trip to Zingerman's Deli- you won't be disappointed!"

  • Wonderful week, bedding could be improved

"This is a lovely spot, and the hosts are genuine, helpful and personable. Plusses: great swimming, beautiful sunsets, kayak, paddleboat and canoe use, impeccably clean house, lots of outdoor seating that overlooks the lake, small private beach, fireplace indoors and firepit on the lake. The cabin itself is very charming, and the layout is great. Convenient location -- close to amenities/nearby cities and towns, but still in a scenic and quiet. Though this is not a particularly private spot - there are neighbours next-door, and the owners are just a few houses down -- it was very peaceful during the weekdays in particular. Drawbacks: Bedding -- We found the double/full bed in the main bedroom was too firm for a good / pain-free nights's sleep -- we had to use additional camping mattresses on it. The other 2 beds are singles, and are not both in the same room (though they are comfortable). The convertible futon in the living room was not a feasible sleeping spot for 2 adults -- it was quite warped from time and use. In order to get a comfortable night's sleep, my spouse and I found ourselves sleeping separately in the two single beds, which was far from ideal on a romantic getaway. The amenities could also be improved by the addition of a few more lamps in the living room, as the overhead lighting is a bit bright for a cozy evening at the cabin."

  • Very nice retreat!

"Our family was lucky enough to find this lovely cottage while we were in the area for a relative's graduation party, making for a nice mini-vacation. We had a delightful time, and Lisa helped make our stay extra special by offering to take us for a ride on her pontoon boat on Vineyard Lake. The lake was very relaxing and the weather was perfect, and we loved watching the sunsets from the dock every night. My son and I also had a great time exploring the lake by kayak. Our kids (ages 15 and 17) loved the loft area in the cottage, and we enjoyed eating dinner at the patio table in the immaculate and beautifully landscaped back yard. The cottage was well-stocked with amenities, and there were lots of movies and games to keep busy with. Lisa was very knowledgeable and helpful about steering us to the best places and restaurants to visit in the area. She really helped make it a perfect little vacation!"

  • delightful book filled house on the lake

"My husband, adult daughter and I spent 4 days in this lovely home in a rural area about 45 minutes from Ann Arbor. Set on the lake, the house has a lovely sense of both open space and coziness. We arrived for Thanksgiving day dinner, and I was easily able to make a full dinner in the kitchen. The house was very clean, a little rustic outside, but well maintained inside. Plenty of blankets, linens and towels. And it is the first house I have ever rented where I wanted to steal half the books. (I didn't of course :) ) We relaxed and read all weekend. If the weather was warmer, we would have been on the lake in kayaks, as it was, we were satisfied with walking and jogging. We would definitely use this location again if the occasion arose."
