  • Lovely Vintage Beach Cottage

"I've stayed at Annie's Cottage 3 times in the past year. Most recently for a week in July. I've already made plans to come back for a weekend this Fall and a week next summer! I first stayed here in July 2012 and chose the cottage based on its location and price. Trust me when I tell you that a better deal cannot be found, I’ve looked all the way from Michiana to St. Joe. The cottage is the perfect size for a small group. Last year it was my family of 5 for a week and most recently I stayed with 3 of my girlfriends. It’s clean, has all the linens and bath towels you would need. The shower is a bit small, which was only a slight issue for my Dad and brother who are both over 6ft tall. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and we greatly appreciated the bottle of wine Annie left for us! It can get hot if there is no breeze, but if you leave the air conditioner and ceiling fans on during hot nights it will cool down. The neighborhood is quiet and not at all crowded. The walk to the beach path and stairs only takes a minute or two. The climb back up those stairs can be tiresome, but after a few times it gets easy. In the 3 times I’ve stayed here I’ve never thought the beach was crowded. On the weekends there might be 4 or 5 families spread out and the beach for this association is quite large. On weekdays we are usually the only ones on the beach. Plus there is a public beach only a minute away that we use before and after we check in and out of the cottage. There is a fee to drive into the Warren Dunes if you prefer to use that beach. Another bonus, the cottage is down the street from the Swedish Bakery (open Fri-Mon at 7am!) which makes the best Danishes I’ve ever had. It’s about 20 minutes to Meijer’s in Stevensville and 15 minutes by the Red Arrow Highway to New Buffalo. On the most recent stay we drove back to Chicago for a Monday night concert at Soldier Field and it only took an hour each way. I love this little beach cottage and can’t wait to go back!"

  • Wonderful Beach Bungalow

"Our family of 2 adults and 4 small children stayed for a week and absolutely loved our time. The home was a perfect little get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The four bedrooms and fit snuggly in the home and the kitchen was sufficient to cook for everyone. The screened in porch provided a great space for the kids to lounge and play games. The best part of this house is the location and private beach access. In the 7 years we have been staying in South Haven this neighborhood was by far the most convenient for going to the beach. With 4 children under the age of 7 proximately to our house and the beach is critical! The house was just over 1.5 blocks away from the elevator which was the best part of our vacation. No longer did we need to carry chairs, umbrellas and beach tents every day. There is a private storage location for the neighborhood at the base of the elevator. We could run back to the house for lunch and bathroom breaks. The neighborhood playground and Rec center offered another outlet for play and the staff provided crafts for our kids every night - amazing! For the price, it was by far the best beach vacation we've had in South Haven! Thank you Susan ~ We loved our stay at your home."

  • Greatest place in South Haven.

"My family has been coming to South Haven for the last six years. This property is located one block off of the Black River. We were able to walk to everything (kids park, public beaches, great dinning and shopping. The only time we needed to get in the car was to go Gingerman Raceway in the evenings for some car racing. The location alone makes it great - but the house and amenities makes it the best. We stayed at this property twice this summer (7 days each). We enjoyed it that much. Every thing was well appointed. Having things like a coffee maker, dish washer, washer and drier, a large bathtub / shower, wifi and cable tv made everything so comfortable. It has a nice front yard that you can unwind after a long fun filled day. I really enjoyed the porch for reading the tablet. The house is located on is a dead end street (near the end) so it's convenient to everything and very quiet. You also get a small view of lake Michigan while sitting on the couch. How great is that?"

  • Great location, nicely furnished and clean!

"The house is lovely and very clean. It is situated on a quiet dead end street in a great location, walking distance to town and South Beach. The furniture is comfortable, and the owners did a great job updating the house. We particularly enjoyed the screened porch. It was nice to have a washer and dryer available. We are looking forward to visiting again."

Southwest Travel Tips

Southwest Michigan covers the counties of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren along the shores of Lake Michigan. This may not be the first place that springs to mind for finding sugar- sand beaches but this area does have some beautiful bays. It also produces some fine wines and fresh vegetables. During the winter, it is a fun place for skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, swap your ski poles for your golf clubs and enjoy some of the championship golf courses in the area. Those who enjoy a slower pace of life and local history will appreciate the museums and antique shops which can be browsed in this scenic area.
