"This house is so great! More than enough room for everyone. The finished basement is wonderful! My kids loved the bunk beds. Kitchen is well stocked and spacious. The fire pit was a wonderful addition as well. Great location. This was our 2nd time renting this home and we will definitely be back again!"

"Hello! We wanted to share some comments by our guests from the past several years:
~ "We've again enjoyed another few weeks at your fab home. Eighth year and counting. It has become an indelible part of our children's childhood memories!" (July 2014)
~ "Thanks for an awesome [June] weekend . . . We had a blast! Your house is so quaint & beautiful & so much space. I love the history here & the porch. I so wish we had stayed longer" (June 2014)
~ "Thank you! We loved being here ... once again" (August 2013, 5th summer)
~ "Thanks so much for sharing your slice of heaven with us. This is our second year & our "city kids" find your yard & playhouse & books so magical! And of course, the tree swing! We hope to be back for many years -- as long as you are willing to share :) (September 2012, and they did come back!)
~ "We are so blessed to have found this cottage where we visit year after year. Thank you." (August 2012)
~ "Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us this summer! We have vacationed in Union Pier for the past 9 years and we feel, by far, this is now our favorite location. The house, the yard, the porch, the toys, the well-stocked kitchen -- all made the week enjoyable and easy. We just felt like a week wasn't enough time to enjoy it all!" (July 2012)
~ "Thank you for your attention to design & organization. It is obvious that this is a loved home. We hope to experience it again in the future" (Labor Day, 2011)"

"Don't tell your friends or you will NEVER be able to book this place during the summer, unless you book it around the day after you leave.. now the jokes are aside...
AMAZING. We were fortunate enough to have the pool to ourselves the ENTIRE time. We have a 6yr old boy who is in his phase of learning to swim/swimming on his own and this pool was fantastic! The room was amazing, quite (over a non-rented/occupied room) so my son could play/stomp without disturbing anyone. The weather was PERFECT, all days.. even if it were a bit chilly... the pool was heated and NICE.
The room was spacious enough for probably four people (we had three) and the stairs were nicely out of the way when you walked up to your room. You have a private entrance, TV (cable & WiFi), small microwave, electric stove top, decent size refrigerator which we stocked, nice dishes, well lite, ceiling fan and A/C! All the creature comforts of home.
Just a good stones throw from Douglas downtown for dinner(s) or walking the small shops. My boy LOVED the park and we met some really nice people from all walks of life (you have to get to Saugatuck north on Blue Star Hwy. Also, if you are into finding hidden treasures (we found two early 20th Century typewriters -1911 and 1914 then you need to stop at Saugatuck Antique Pavilion (South of Blue Star Hwy from Randolph Street).
The hosts are really nice people; honestly you cannot ask for better people.. type of people you could image being family friends, having dinners with or just being neighbors.
In the end, my wife and I only visited the St. Joseph beach once and that's when we stayed in Stevensville/St. Joseph. REASON - We did NOT want to leave our rental..
Private with some casual check-ins (e.g. everything ok, need anything) and some friendly conversation
So, yes, tell your friends, tell your extended family and prepare to make your reservations MONTHS in advance or you will be shaking it in the local best western or some no-tell-motel....
Have fun.. it's worth it... I bet its amazing in the fall and winter too!!!!
1. Was the listing accurate - yes, AMAZING was missing.
2. Was the place clean - YES
3. Did the owner etc provide good customer service YES - Communicates when e-mailed VERY promptly
4. Would I recommend - YES!!
5. Antique, ate most meals in our room, Visited surrounding towns, checked out the local Douglas beach and visited town EVERY night to play at the park."

"Our family of four had a great stay at Heathcote. We enjoyed the screen porch and very much appreciated the close proximity to downtown. The kitchen was large and bright and had many amenities. We appreciated the selection of board games as well!"
