  • Wonderful!

"My family met up for a week's vacation at this home and had the best time. We are spread all over the US and we try to get together once a year to rent a house and spend a week together. This is the 7th or 8th time we have done this and everyone agreed that this was the best getaway yet. We had 7 people in our group (72, 69, 45, 44, 42, 21 and 4) and one boxer dog (3). Everyone loved this house! The things that we look for when renting a house were more than covered for the interior: the great room (kitchen, living, dining) had more than enough space for everyone to be together yet not feel crowded, the furniture throughout was comfortable and inviting, we cooked in every night and found EVERYTHING we needed in the kitchen, the bathrooms were spacious and modern, and the bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. We all felt that one of the best parts about the interior of the house was how much it connected you to the outside. The walls of windows and doors made you feel like you were outside all the time, which was perfect because we loved the outside. There were so many areas to explore between the screened back porch, the large deck just off the great room, the fire pit at the back of the property, the really large yard, the balcony off the master bedroom, etc., that it was easy to find your own space, which can sometimes be important during these trips. There were plenty of chairs and tables wherever you went. The 4 year old in our group loved the space to run indoors or out and to explore for bugs and stuff in the yard, but his favorite part was the train. They didn't come by often but, when they did, he would yell TRAIN! at the top of his lungs as he made a mad dash to the front porch to see it every time it went by. (FYI, I think we saw 3 trains max per day and, other than being a joy to the toddler, it did not impact our vacation one bit. We never heard the train at night.) The walk to the private beach was easy and we made the walk several times. We also spent one day up at Warren Dunes, which was about a 10 minute drive. We would recommend both highly. Marjolein and Scott were wonderful to work with. You can tell they poured a lot of themselves into the home and we really felt honored that they shared it with us. We would go back in a second and can't recommend it enough."

  • Relaxing Family Get-Away!

"My husband and our 13 month old toddler stayed in the Harmony House for a week. We are big fans of VRBO and use it often for family trips. We searched many rentals online before finding Harmony House, and we were not disappointed! Just a short walk from town, we rarely used our car over our week stay...the paved trail into Saugatuck is GREAT, and was easy to navigate with a stroller and even some shopping bags! We grilled out several nights, and enjoyed the back screened porch. A quiet, peaceful area which provided our family with relaxation away from the "hubbub" of the city where we live! The cabin was rustic, but child friendly, we have a toddler, so this is a must! Some re-done rentals don't have actual bath tubs...which makes it difficult to bathe a toddler...but this one has a tub in one of the bathrooms. Yeah! Lots of dishes, kitchen tools, pans etc. Great customer service from the owners. Cute separate guest house...we hope to stay next year and utilize it as well!"

  • Clean, Warm and Inviting

"Your condo was exactly as described. I was with three of my best friends, all of us very busy women, and we were thrilled to find an updated, clean, well stocked, conveniently located, quiet rental for our girls weekend in Saugatuck and Douglas. It was a little chilly during our stay, so we couldn't enjoy the outdoor space that the condo offers. However, we did enjoy the Annex Piano bar and our trip to Fennville's Crane's Orchard. Of course, we had retail therapy in Saugatuck, Douglas and Holland on the way home. Thank you for making our getaway, though short, very comfortable."

  • Great home in great location

"We had a fantastic time at this home. It was a great kitchen equipped with everything you could want. Grills also available that we enjoyed. Bedrooms were comfortable for sleeping and plenty of games were available for the kids. Our family had a great time hanging out on the deck from morning ‘till night. The area was quiet and peaceful. The location was perfect with a short walk to the water and a short drive to anything in the area. I would highly recommend this home and would stay here again any time."

Southwest Travel Tips

Southwest Michigan covers the counties of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren along the shores of Lake Michigan. This may not be the first place that springs to mind for finding sugar- sand beaches but this area does have some beautiful bays. It also produces some fine wines and fresh vegetables. During the winter, it is a fun place for skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, swap your ski poles for your golf clubs and enjoy some of the championship golf courses in the area. Those who enjoy a slower pace of life and local history will appreciate the museums and antique shops which can be browsed in this scenic area.

Stay on the Great Lakes with Southwest Michigan Vacation Rentals
