  • Anniversary Weekend

"Great place, and great location! The Cottage served us very well, was clean and was enough room for us, a little on the small side if you have a larger group and the weather is not nice. The location was perfect because it provided a great starting point for several excursions in the Pictured Rocks area. The weather was not perfect, but the Cottage has a great deck to enjoy the outside. Would recommend staying there to friends and family. We look forward to a return trip. My only concern was the door to the deck, we had some significant wind one night and it can get a little breezy inside."

  • Everything you need and more in a perfect place by the lake

"The place is in 100 per cent. accordance with the description, but in reality the cottage is even better. The owners Ted and Lynn live nearby and were most friendly, although we did not need them because everything was in mint condition. When we arrived (early fall chill), the fully automated wood-pellet stove had already warmed up the cottage. A rowboat complete with lifevests lay ashore to our disposition, it is a nice lake to row about (we do not fish, but people do, mostly from slow pontoons). The nice pier should be good for swimming in shallow clear water - in summer, that is. The house is very well maintained and has all the works, flat TV, coffeemaker, four-flame gas stove, outside barbecue, you name it...we did not miss anything and found more stuff than we needed. I would highly recommend this vacation home to all those seeking nature by the water. Secluded as it is, the drive to the Michigan Highway 35 is 2.5 mi gravel and then 10 min to Gwinn (there is a completely stocked supermarket in town) or 35 min to Marquette (24hrs Walmart). We cooked every night (BBQ), but in Little Lake (5 min) there is The Throttle, a no-nonsense bar and restaurant. This being the UP, there are NO "nearby" attractions apart from Gwinn itself (Model Town, quite unique), but for example Pictured Rocks is 1 hour away, the Iron Ore Heritage Bike Trail (very well maintained) is 40 min, Keewenaw is 2 hours away. If it were not so far from home, we would love to repeat in the near future!"

  • Great Place! Great Location!

"I met my Dad and Brother at this vacation rental for a long weekend of fishing. The place was easy to find and very close to the Marina/Bait Shop/Pub/Gas Station. There is plenty of room to park numerous vehicles and trailers. The place was very well kept and fully stocked with the essentials (TP, paper towels, clean sheets and towels, cooking supplies, etc...). All of the utilities were in good working condition. The place has a lot of really cool decorations and is very comfortable. The Cedar River is directly across the road (CR 551). There is also a secluded state park/campground about 5.5 miles up the river. My Dad and I dumped the canoe in at the campground and paddled/fished back to the house. This is a great place to visit/stay if you are looking for serenity and tranquility. The surrounding area is also a great fishery (Salmon, Walleye, Bass, and Pike). The owner made the renting experience very simple and easy. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return for another stay!"

  • Epic Adventure Week 7

"The Finnish Farm was fantastic. Don was so nice. Just an incredible and beautiful property with a natural setting and location. We used the property for base camp for touring the area but ended up spending most of the week at the property relaxing with Lake Superior, nature and all the trimmings of Finnish comfort. The house, outbuildings and yard are peaceful, serene, natural, majestic, very pretty and very comfortable in all regards. The vistas are breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed the modern, clean, fresh, comfortable, well appointed main house with all the amenities needed at hand. We cooked gourmet meals daily. Bon fires at the pit daily. Daily Finnish sauna was heavenly. The views of Lake Superior, eagles, hummingbirds, sky, stars, sunrises, trees, rocks, cliffs, crashing surf, mountains and clouds were just incredibly fantastic. We had so much fun with each of the out buildings. The cliff overlook screen porch and deck, the marvelous studio building and deck, the bedroom bay windows, the living room windows and the yard fire pit area were each so much fun for relaxing and viewing nature. We could have spent the whole week in the studio just staring at Lake Superior, the bluffs, the surf, trees, boats and the eagles through the telescope and enjoying the comfort of this nicely appointed building and its windows. The library in the house is immense and well varied. Sleeping to the sound of Lake Superior is phenomenal. We will go back."
