"We wanted to escape and enjoy the fall colors...what a great place to do just that! Far enough from the city that you feel you've made your escape, but not too far of a drive to town to enjoy restaurants, shopping, a movie, etc. In addition to that it seems there is plenty to do in the area. If you like the water, it looks like a great place to enjoy boating of any kind, and there are boat launches & marinas nearby. We also saw ATV & snowmobile trails, and though we don't hunt I imagine there are some great places to do so. The wildlife is everywhere! We also took a trip to the very picturesque Door County peninsula for a wine tasting adventure and a fish boil which is a local tradition. In addition to the wineries, there are many quaint harbor towns loaded with little shops and places to eat. It was the highlight of our trip, we highly recommend it! The cottage itself was immaculate, nicely updated, and furnished with everything we needed. Just add food and drink and you're all set. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. There's a nice beach with a fire pit, plus the cottage has a huge deck, and both are perfect spots to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Lake Michigan and the stars at night! We WILL be back!!!"Guest: Sailorjj Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 15, 2014View listing
"I met my Dad and Brother at this vacation rental for a long weekend of fishing. The place was easy to find and very close to the Marina/Bait Shop/Pub/Gas Station. There is plenty of room to park numerous vehicles and trailers. The place was very well kept and fully stocked with the essentials (TP, paper towels, clean sheets and towels, cooking supplies, etc...). All of the utilities were in good working condition. The place has a lot of really cool decorations and is very comfortable. The Cedar River is directly across the road (CR 551). There is also a secluded state park/campground about 5.5 miles up the river. My Dad and I dumped the canoe in at the campground and paddled/fished back to the house. This is a great place to visit/stay if you are looking for serenity and tranquility. The surrounding area is also a great fishery (Salmon, Walleye, Bass, and Pike). The owner made the renting experience very simple and easy. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return for another stay!"Guest: Ryan Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 2, 2014View listing
"My wife and I decided to vacation in the U.P. of Michigan and we did some research online for places to stay. We came across Strouble Lake House and we couldn't believe our eyes !! This is a spacious newer home, located on a private lake, only about an hour from the Mackinac Bridge. We immediately made our reservations to lock in the date. The owners, Gary & Trudy met us at the house and gave us a tour of the home. All I can say is "WOW". What a beautiful place inside and out. So clean and inviting and nicely decorated. The view of Strouble Lake from the front of the home is worth a million dollars. There is a fishing boat and motor available to rent and we decided to use it a few days to tour the lake and for some much needed fishing. There was nobody else on the lake all 3 days we were on the water and the perch and catfish we caught entertained us the whole time. We had 3 Loons stay near our boat when we drifted and we also saw ducks, geese and Sandhill Cranes in the area. We made use of the bonfire at night and Gary made sure there was enough wood for our entire stay. We strayed away from the house a few times and made it to Pictured Rocks (boat tour), Toonerville Trolley Tahquamenon Falls tour, The Soo Locks Tour and the Garlyn Zoo. All of these excursions are two thumbs...highly recommend them all, if you are looking for something to see/do while you are in the U.P. After one week of superb "R & R", we can honestly say that this was one of the nicest vacations and places we have been on in a long time. We loved our stay so much, we are already planning our next trip back here (possibly in the fall or next spring). Thank you Gary and Trudy for a wonderful experience at Strouble Lake House !! You are the best !!!"Guest: Christopher & Theresa M. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 3, 2014View listing
"This was the perfect vacation home for us! We felt very comfortable and at home here. We hated to leave! This was the perfect location, between L'anse, Houghton, Chassell and Pelkie. Everything was clean and fresh and exactly as pictured. There were plenty of towels and bedding, dishes, etc. We wanted for nothing! We slept like babies! Can't say enough good things about this place. We definitely recommend it, and are trying to find a reason to travel to the U.P. again next summer so we can stay here again."Guest: Deb T.
