"My sister and I spent the month of October on the island and had a terrific time. Perfect time of year to explore the island and avoid all of the tourists. The weather was a little inclimate, but we made the best of it. We ended up entering and completing the Great Turtle Half Marathon, quite an accomplishment for two non-runners. The condo was the perfect location, and just the right size for the two of us. Can't wait to go back in 2015."

"If you are looking for a quiet place to separate yourself from all distractions look no further than The North Lodge! My fraternity was searching for a great place to hold our yearly retreat and this was just the right place. In fact we look forward to coming back next year as well if the opportunity presents itself! The lodge has a great feel of separation to it which is helped by the fact of reduced cellular service. For a group of young men, there is a feeling of freedom to not be tied down by their cell phones constantly buzzing. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed really enjoyed having fires at night. The pictures shown here really do not do justice to the beauty of the lodge. You can really grasp the care and thought that went into the construction of lodge by its interior beauty. All in all, I would highly recommend this property to anyone who just needs a weekend or week to get awhile from it all and spend time with close friends and family."

"My boyfriend and I just returned from the most tranquil and peaceful stay at the Grizzly Den and will definitely return! The cabin is in the most beautiful and remote setting along the Trout river with miles of snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing trails! Even in the dead of winter we were toasty warm and cozy inside the cabin. It has everything you need! We had hot water, lights, gas stove, and the gas fireplace was sooo cozy and perfect. Not having internet or a TV was a huge plus as there is so much to do and it is SO unbelievably refreshing to get away from the chaos of life back home. We brought books and games but found we were active outdoors the entire time and just wanted to cuddle up in front of the fireplace with hot cocoa and some homecooked meals when not active. It was so relaxing! Steve and Deb had all the dishes inside that we would have needed. They even had a gift basket waiting for us when we arrived! They also have a selection of games in case you didn't think to bring your own.
Additionally, Steve and Deb were SO warm and inviting. The gift basket upon our arrival was a great touch, and Steve was so friendly and happy to take us by snowmobile to the cabin upon our arrival. He made it very clear that he would be available if we had ANY questions or needed anything at all, but the cabin was so perfect that we didn't need a thing.
We are already making plans to come back here in the summer and next winter again. It is seriously the perfect relaxing getaway! Just what everyone needs to relax and bring life back to basics. Just beautiful and great to rent from such wonderful people."

"We stayed an entire week in this beautiful cabin in the UP of Michigan. The cabin was well equipped with everything to make your stay easy and enjoyable. Kitchen is well stocked, gas grill is ready and waiting, the pellet stove is up for its important job and the decor makes you feel right at home. Mary Jean answered our emails in a timely manner and even though our deposit checks "went missing", she was very patient and understanding. There was a folder with all the pertinent info one could need on the area "goings on". We used a blue pamphlet to make sure to hit all the big sights and many waterfalls in the area (we always had this with us). The day trips looking for waterfall after waterfall were the best. This area is a GREAT place to Geocache. I think we found 28 caches on this trip. The most ever in such a short amount of time (we usually have our teens with us and it's usually them actually locating the caches - it's sooo much fun being the 'finder' and not the 'secretary' documenting the finds). The hot tub is great and always makes returning after a long day knowing that's waiting. We didn't have enough time to enjoy the lake right there at the cabin. Our day trips kept us busy and when we were at the cabin, the chilly air and winds kept us inside by the stove. There's so much left to do up there and I think a 2 week visit would be ideal. We want to return again ASAP and thinking about leaving the teens at home once again. The cell service is nil but you know that from the get go since Mary Jean made sure to inform us of that ahead of time. The cabin does have WI-Fi and when we were at the cabin, my husband was able to keep in contact with other family members who had iPhones. There's too much more to tell you and you will need to take my word for it when I say this is the perfect cabin to stay at. Thank you Ed and Mary Jean for sharing your family home with us. We'd love to return next year."
