  • Comfortable Family Home

"My husband and four adult children/spouses spent a relaxing week in this beautifully decorated family home on a large lake. There is a dock and a small bit of beach that are perfect for enjoying the water on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Within an hour's drive of Pictured Rocks, Mackinac Island, Taquhemmonen (sp) Falls...it is a great base to explore the area. We rented a pontoon boat for a couple of days and enjoyed hours on the lake. The home is clean and comfortable - not fancy or stuffy. There was no air conditioning which wasn't a problem during our stay - and likely isn't often on the UP - but plan accordingly. The owner was very helpful with great driving directions (it is off the beaten path - a plus!) and a notebook with lots of information on the area. A great value - we would definitely return!"

  • A wonderful week of vacation

"When we started to plan this year's trip to the US which had to include a visit with old friends on Douglas Lake, south of the Mackinaw bridge, we realized that this would be a chance to spend some days on the UP, an area which was totally unknown to us Swiss. Grand Marais with its proximity to the Pictured Rock National Lakeshore, and also not too far from the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, was soon the choice. Then we found the description of Plover Retreat in the internet and thought: That's it. How right we were. Rental agreement and payment from overseas functioned with the kind support by the local manager. Her directions by e-mail how to drive to the cabin helped us to find it without any problem on a sunny late afternoon and to settle there with ease. It was the start of a marvelous week in which we enjoyed to explore the beautiful and fascinating landscape on Lake Superior by hiking, to learn about the local history and to be at leisure in this wonderful cabin. Its rustic and carefully decorated wooden interior is well arranged and equipped with everything what is needed for a real 'retreat'. It was so peaceful to sit back in one of the comfortable armchairs and to page through the botany and wildlife books from the little cupboard. Even the Webster's rendered its service when we were lost with an American term. In town, we met friendly people who gave us many interesting information about passed days and everyday life in this region. If Plover Retreat wasn't so far away from home we would come back very soon to this neat spot. Well, who knows? A big 'thank you' to the owners for making Plover Retreat available for rent and to the local manager for her perfect administrative Service."

  • TGR & DJR

"Great vacation. 3rd time at Lindsley Cove. Cabin is always very clean. The seclusion is wonderful. A very peaceful place. Fall foliage at peak was something to see. The area has great hiking, beautiful waterfalls, and of course, the lakes. The most relaxing vacation ever."

Drummond Island Travel Tips

The Ultimate Outdoors Vacation at Drummond Island Vacation Rentals

Are you the outdoorsy type? Do you dream about fishing, hiking, birding (that's bird watching to those not in the know), and kayaking? If you said yes then Drummond Island is the ultimate dream vacation for you. And as with any dream vacation, the number one thing you need for a dream vacation is for dream accommodations. You can get that by renting a vacation home at Drummond Island. Why? Because unlike hotel rooms that are cramped and impersonal, vacation homes have all the space and amenities you need to make your vacation great. Unlike the stiff furniture and small rooms you get in a hotel, you can rent a vacation home for the same price or less that has multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a full-sized kitchen—pretty important when you have fishing poles and your other gear to store!

Hiking, Bicycling, Golfing or Kayaking . . . Choices, Choices, Choices

Once your Drummond Island lodging is taken care, now you need to decide what you want to do on your dream vacation. If you like hiking, check out the Heritage Trail—a short 3-mile hike that takes you through an amazing trail of trees and foliage. In the winter it makes a great trail for snowshoeing as well. If golfing is your thing, check out The Rock—a golf course full of scenic views so you can appreciate nature as you tee off. Kayaking is another great pastime for those visiting Drummond Island and a great way to spend the day.

Spectacular Scenery Right from Your Very Own Window

When each day is over, instead of dreading going back to your hotel room with nothing to do, you get to go back to one of the beautiful Michigan Upper Peninsula lake houses and enjoy your evening. You can spend it indoors enjoying one of the entertainment center or out on the deck enjoying the view. Either way, you'll know you're having a good time!
