  • Can't wait to go back

"This is an absolutely beautiful log cabin, well off the beaten path. Clean & inviting, has everything you need & all the extras, too. Provides a spectatular natural setting and is close to all that Grand Marais and the surrounding area has to offer. Would highly recommend this property, we're hoping to return again, just as soon as impossible!"

  • Beautiful Views On The Lake

"Yearly we try to find a place large enough to bring our kids, their families, and some aunts and uncles. We were not pleased with our last trip, so looked for something that was large and equidistant from the various travel points (Chicago, Saginaw, and Minneapolis). The owners were nice enough to let us check in early, and even though the dishwasher was out of order (being a homeowner, we all know that happens), the entire experience was fantastic. We rented the pontoon boat and the older boys/men went out fishing. We buried a treasure map and treasure on the island in the middle of Stanley Lake, and made it fun for the younger crowd. The decor of this home is very nice and understated. It would not be out of place in a major city. It had wi-fi, Direct TV, a firepit (with wood!), and a large hot tub on the lower porch. The upper deck gave wonderful views of the lake, which is 67 steps down to the dock (we know, our legs still hurt!). Because you are in the U.P., the lake was hardly crowded, just some fishing boats and the occasional jet ski. The area is typical small town, so don't go expecting that there will be a vibrant nightlife. This is THE place to chill out with all the comforts of home on hand. We were very happy with the rental, and the owners...oh, and yes, there seems to be a friendly spirit at times (just read the in house guest book). 5 stars, and they deserve every one."

  • Beautiful log home and perfect location

"For our first visit to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we wanted both a central location for sightseeing and a home on Lake Superior. This home was that and even more. It was close to Picture Rocks, Munising restaurants and Marquette. If you love beautiful scenery, exploring, high end accommodations and the tranquility of the lake then this home is all you could possibly want! We highly recommend Log Home on the Lake for it's cleanliness and attention to quality as well a the helpfulness of the owners Carolyn and Randy."

  • Very comfortable - so much to do!!!

"Our family spent a week at the Heidi Haus in July and had a great time. The cottage is clean, very comfortable, well-stocked, and has the creature comforts of nice beds, laundry, bath, and kitchen. Pictures are accurate. Loft is really large, and kids enjoyed having their own space up there. We enjoyed walking along the beach every morning - and noting the changes in shoreline from the day before. We used the owners canoe in the bay; caught smallmouth bass in the Menomonee River, and some smaller fish in the Cedar River; went bike riding; visited the DeYoung Zoo; went swimming; and had a fire out on the beach. We also brought our ATVs along - there are some really wonderful trails in the area, and we seldom crossed paths with other riders (you can trailer 4 miles to a trailhead, or ATV right off the property - just can't use ATVs on M35). Owners were very helpful in directing us where to register our ATVs in Michigan (only 4 miles away); where to fish; how to get to zoo; etc. For this mom, it was a great alternative to camping - we could do all of the same things, but had access to the comforts and conveniences of cottage."
